not really an update but thought i would show some of the new bits i have got for the fiesta, bit pissed off because i wanted the car done by now but dont want to rush things :(

got a new sticker for the fuel tank as the original pro sticker is on the other side of the tank and wanted a new style sticker for the back of it to go with the torques one

Image

i also got all my new stack gauges, i got oil pressure and temp, water temp, boost and volts, on the mk5 fiesta spedo head there is a water temp gauge but i will be blanking over that and either putting my boost gague or put my vdo fuel level one there as its black faced and will look a little odd with all the white faced ones, i have to use it though because i dont know how well the vdo sender and factory gauge will work together, i was thinking of getting a egt gauge and lamba one aswell but think it might look a little over the top and like a spaceship with all the gauges there and i have no space now unless i go for a piller mounted ones, i still need to decide on if i should have the spedo surround panted black or have it flocked but the dash will be staying the same colour

quick question mate , im about to pick up a set of 16" team dynamics ( pro race 1.2s ) tonight as wanted them for ages , what size are those supergeleras ? im guessing they have around the same offset size and therefore wondered how hard it was to fit without scrubbing issues , you managed to get yours on a perfect height , the same ill be going for. a mate has a professinal arch rolling tool but surely you wouldnt be able to fit the RS arches back on after. any help would be great mate ,

and p.s that is one sick car mate :)

Hi the oz wheels are 17's and think the offset is either et35 of 37. The front arches have had a lot of work done to them.they have both been chopped right back and the kit put on over the top then the kit chopped aswell. The backs are fairly standard.i had to trim away part of The bumper and use a belt sander to trim them back a bit. With yours being 16's they should be a little easier to fit and with mine i made sure i could get the wheels completely under the arches with the coilovers wound all the way down.

for the 17s, alot of work for wheels in my opinion are too big for a small car like the fiesta

ive had 16" O.Z superleggera III's on my Si before with 195/45/16 tyres, should have had 40's on them but they weren't so bad, scrubbed the front on a bump but not soo bad, so with 195/40's i imagine 16s be fine, they were fiesta offset so probably ET35 ish

but the wheels were a bit big for the Si bumpers, RS kit would suit them more

I have fitted my new wheels and they scrub really bad , but especially on the backs !

The offset is quite large , unfortunately for some reason the alloys have a ET listing but then a blank box were the number should be , I am definately going to have to cut the arches back loads to get it even reasonably low !

How did you fit the arches back on with the arches cut back ? , screws will just cause a problelm again I reckon ?

Gonna have to get serious on them , ill put up a tech post later with pics !

The arches where bonded on as mine are fiberglass ones not genuine rs ones. Ime running et35's with focus rear hubs that push the wheels out by 20mm and they don't hit so the et on your wheels must be very low for them to cause issues

Mine reads the same Jon. Thought it might have been a faulty gauge. Yeh i will be using the vdo one now but don't know where to put it?

im probably going to bin the whole cluster and just have a few random gauges set in a sheet of carbon..might be worth you bonding a gauge holder on to the steering column surround and blending it in

upddate time: 26/8/12
its been a bit of a slow month with the car, still waiting on some bits that are causing a massive hold up with the build, so with waiting for parts i have been looking at other parts to improve so first one was to sort out the front brakes, i wasnt happy with the colour i painted the calipers so they got paint striped and re painted silver with some new decals, then i decided to get some better discs so got some 330mm 4wd cosworth discs for them and found out the offset on the 4wd bells is wrong and cause the calipers to hit my wheels so need to change to 2wd bells instead :( lol

here are some photos of the new setup
Image
Image

i aslo wasnt happy with my spedo head and that i would be having two fuel gauges and the spedo only went up to 140mph so i decided to get a digital dash and found this one on a race car forum for sale, its a pi systems dash 2 and it dose every thing that all the stack gauges that i bought dose :'( lol so now got 3 holes in my dash that need filling,i chopped about the original fiesta dash to mount the display in with a boost and fuel level display and two green lights for my indacators, some other lights that i will mount in a new spedo suround for the other idiot lights once i have finished taking the vents out of it and blended it all in, i also had to sort out the speed pickup for the dash so chopped a abs sensor up and made the speedpickup fit what was left of the sensor so it would fit the hub propely

here is some photos of the new dash setup

Image
Image
Image
Image

thats about it for now , hoping that the next time i update this it will be a big update, next on the list is to finish the wiring inside the car and build a gearbox and hopefully the parts ime waiting for will be ready and fitted :)

Thanks :)

The dash is a standalone one and dosnt need the ecu to work.i can wire it up to the ecu if i wanted to but no point as the only extra thing it will show is boost and then it won't show fuel pressure so running the dash on its own.

I'll probably get a cheap mechanical boost gauge, then the cheaper electrical type ones with sensors for oil temp and pressure (not the pro range).

Electrical boost is nearly double the price I think.

been a little busy with the calipers, removed all the pistions and seals and left the calipers in a tub of thinners to clean them up before painting them, the pistions where a complete nightmare to remove, one on each caliper was proper stuck and 10bar of pressure wouldnt blow it out so ended up pulgging a grease gun on to the bleed nipple and pumped grease in and that forced the stuck pistion out :), left all the pistions in a bucket of cleaner to see there condition and the 4small ones had wear marks on them and needed replacing and the 4 big ones where ok but i thought if ime replacing 2 on each caliper i might aswell do them all, so at the moment ime waiting on a complete seal kit for both calipers and all the pistions and bleed nipples for them, the crossover pipes are ok as there stainless and have cleaned up like new, i also oredered a set of cuttom new bells from mk motorsport to the hight i need and some new bolts for the bells, i am having the bells done in orange to go with all the orange on the underside of the car :)

here are some photos of the calipers before and after
