Mk3 cylinder head problem

Mk3 cylinder head problem

Postby Coolbluelights on Fri Jul 26, 2013 7:59 pm

Hiya everyone, I'm new to the forum.

I bought my fiesta from a scrap yard as a project.
I have been trying to start it and had no luck, turns out a piece of metal had got lodged between the belt and the crankshaft causing the belt to snap.
I now recon the valves are damaged and wanted to know if it would be cheaper to replace the cylinder head completely (got quoted 100 quid for a replacement) or to replace the valves

Cheers
Bradley

best bet is to remove the head and see if the valves are damaged, worst case is if the valves are damaged, chances are the pistons are too...

being only 16, this will give you great hands on knowledge on how to repair your car... i started at 16 on vauxhalls, i am now 30 and built 5 engines and repaired more than i can remember
I’d rather lose by a mile because I built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me. Your car, is your story, so don’t let someone else write the book. – MOOG (Mighty Car Mods)
