RIght, I've been hard at it for the past couple of days under sealing and painting.
FIrst up was the rear drums and arches.
After a clean
Grinded all the sh!t off the arch and undersealed
Rear Drum Painted
Over all i'm reallty happy with the arches, there is no rust, they were just caked up with mud.
Now onto the front - Wheel and arch liner off
was a bit worried as to what i might find but again, really good, just some flakey paint and some surface rust.
Caliper painted
Passenger side arch
This side looks worse but again, just surface rust.
After
Now onto the front valance...
Pretty knackered but thought i'd tidy it up.
after
Overall i'm really really happy not to come across any rust!
Comments welcomed as always
EDIT: I didn't really it make it clear but I grinded away at all the rust and old paint in the arches and applied the underseal to bare metal, i didn't just underseal straight over it

Looking smart and subtle. You should start colour coding those door handles now.

IMO sand the door handles back so they're smooth then spray them the same colour as the mirror base plates, would look sweet with all the plastics nice and fresh!

Re: MK3-MATT's 5-Door - spoiler fitted :)
Guess what i've just acquired
full 5 door SI interior
only got half of it in cause i've been mad busy, and also have a problem, I've snapped my torx driver the damn bolts are so tight for the rear bench and one of the heads is knackered
Also need the clips that hold the tops of the handles on if anybody has them, along with the 60/40 rear bench bracket.
Cheers

Oh and with tight bolts, I had this on my astra, either try hitting them with a hammer!! it can work and/or get some heat on them, I had to do that when I did track rod ends etc and it worked perfectly!

Re: MK3-MATT's 5-Door
Bit of an update.
Trying to tidy up the engine bay a bit so have done a couple of things
First up, i decided to spray my heat sheild, done out of boredom really
Primered and sprayed in gloss black - same as mirror baseplates. Looks a tad dull cause i haven't laqaured it.
Next up,
Strut tops. When i got the car the previous owner had sprayed them silver, and badly too, looked like he'd stuck tinfoil on
so, out with the wire wheel to reveal the boring standard finish...
So i though hmmm shall i spray them black but the weather was too cold for spraying and i didn't fancy masking off half the bay. So i though i might as well have a go at polishing them as i had various bits of sand paper.
Some bay shots
I'm gunna respray the Airbox as it was done by the previous owner, and again, badly.
Got my 60/40 split bracket for the rear bench so got that fitted;
Haven't fitted the rear door cards as yet because i need the clips that go in the door so that you can screw the handles in so if anyone has some please PM me or whatever.
And a couple of the back end to finish with
Over and out.
