they take a bit of getting used to but i wouldnt put clears back on mine for any length of time. they make the car look a bit washed out as there's so much clear lenses what with the fogs and spots

i like em :D dont get me wrong though, i dont dislike clears, there just my prefference :D

it was all looking good (even the ambers) untill i saw the plate over the bumper lights, if you mesh the other side or something would look better that just 1 set of bumper lights.

saw the car proper sunday mate, looked very nice :Q

Ambers look good i guess, Do the sides, maybe mk3.5 or puma ones to be a bit different with the mirrors.

The rears dont match but its how it could have been from the factory i guess!

I prefer the clears, ambers don't look right on red cars imo

Your car looks great in this pic, wouldn't change a thing.

what bolts do you use for the cage? easy to fit?

also can you fit the cage through the rear of car or do you need to take the front seats out?

i got a rear bolt in cage from saftey devcies second hand wanna fit it soon as the gbox is in and running.

looking good mate... :aviator:

Cheers guys looking forward to combe now  thats if i get everything fitted.

started removing the sound deadning tar pads list night what a nightmare. any tips on getting that stuff off would be much appreciated

xr-dub - if its just a rear bolt in it should be easy however i dont know about safety devices ? the OMP one fits so well i was amazed. after shaun was saying its a nightmare to do i was preparing myself for the worst but if you have a couple of you shifting it aroungd it isnt too bad.

as for bolts i am welding the plates down to the floor that are about 2-3mm thick and using a tap and die set to bolt straight through the plates and body using m10 or m8 i forget which size.

shaun have you got any tips on how you did yours? or close up pics of the mounting points

Sound deadening removal you need a hot air gun to soften it up and a scraper,

then to finish, thinners, should end up something like this

Image

no close ups of base plates but its 3 or 4mm thick steel approx 100mm square,

The order I did it in.

1 put cage in, and bolt front section to roof (not easy but possible)

then put steels leg supports in place and mark holes,

remove supports and drill and tap, put supports back in and bolt in place then tack weld.

remove cage and paint it, weld supports in and paint whats needed,

then put it all back in again and bolt it all in place, job done. :o :o

took me about a couple of days to do it, thats why I say never again   :bonkers:

Good luck and hopefully see you @ Combe :D

lovely car!

if you are keeping it on non standard wheels then keep it on clear indicators.

i think amber indicators only suit completely standard red RSTs. they are class on white RSTs as they strongly contrast. but on red RSTs amber and red are too similar a colour and they clash as a result. (if my girlfriend heard me talking about matching colours she'd be so proud!....or worried...!) :D :bonkers: :D

what diameter is the exhaust tip and what brand, if you dont mind me asking?! must get one soon and yours looks about right :Q
speed costs. how fast do you want to go?
