mk4 2 litre engine swap
Hi i've just bought a mk4 1.25 zetec with a blown head gasket for £100, for the price i bought it for it seems silly to put another 1.25 engine in so i've been reading up on the 2 litre engine swap guides that are on here and just wondered if the loom on my car is compatable with the mondeo engine. from what i've read its easy to swap a 1.6 si because its a zetec and the mounts and wiring are pretty much the same i just wondered if the same applies to my car with it being a zetec
can anyone shed some light?,
thanks, wez

Or... I might come here!!
The easiest swap is for the 1.6 ZS engine or a 1.7 from a puma - You just need to make sure your loom is compatible with the gearbox you get
If your really wanting a 2.0 then there are no looms so you would need to make one, or even use custom management (omex, or megasquirt etc..)
But theres enough room to drop a 2.0 duratec, and I dont know of any that have been done, but possibly a 2.3 (its slightly taller though - 12cm iirc)
Reason a zetec from a mondeo (for E.G) is easy for a MK3, is cause they have a Zetec-E engine, Mk4/5 & pumas have a Zetec-SE (A.K.A Sigma. A Ford/Yamaha built engine)
