mk4 fiesta with 195 45 15's lowering/arch work

Postby lucifer defacer on Wed Nov 28, 2007 2:14 pm

hi i have a mk4 fiesta si which atm has a 1.25 lump. (i am hoping to do a puma conversion)
i have previously lowered the car by 40mm all round with koni adjusables with eibach springs. i bought a set of bk racing 238 eclipse 7spoke wheels which i have resprayed in ford levante grey (they look the shizz) and i have had yoko 195 45 15's s-drives fitted to these. Unfortunatly when fitted they rubbed at the rear quite severely on the inside of the rear bumper and on the rear quarted where it is fitted. they also from memory rubbed at the front of my vehicle but no where near as bad. any suggestions as to how i may modify the rear arches e.g. rolling, cutting out? how might i fix the rear bumper?
i am hoping to get some powerflex bumpstops for my shocks as i think this may help and also reduce any chance of damage to myshock from bottoming out. what do you think?

I THINK, that on the mk4 you can go up to 50 profiles.
Those that can, do; and those that can't, talk about it.

The mk5 which is the same was supplied with 195/50/15's on the zetec s, so as oranoco suggests your offset must be wrong.

the rear arches were rolled on the Zetec-S thats why with 195/50/15 tyres they dont rub.

You need to roll your rear arches or cut away the metal arch and bond a new set over the top.

I had 195/45/15 and I was lowered 40mm and I got rubbing.

I'm now on 195/45/16 stretched over cossie wheels with the some of the metal arch cut away and ESP arches rivited over the top and get no rubbing. I'm also now down about 70-90mm on coilovers.

eg.

its also about the tyre side walls as some slope inwards and some are just straight.

Sounds like you have quite a chunky side wall to the tyre, could be the reason why its rubbing?
