Worst ways, get a relay from an escort turbo, it wires up differently though but could bypass all your problems.

Re: My fiesta, red mk4 s2 16v Up and running!!
Does the relay click on when you first turn the ignition on?
Take the relay out and bridge the two larger connections on it and see if the pump turns on.
If bridging it turns it on its a relay/wiring problem.
Otherwise theres theres somthing wrong with the line to the pump.

done what you said with the big pins, one of the other relays clicked and then i moved the wire a bit and what sounded liek a motor spinning briefly, maybe the starter motor?
can any one help me out, ive heard it running, im getting anxious to get it back on the road
cant i just use a Si pump relay?

Sounds like you've wired your fuel pump up to the starter motor maybe? So when you stop cranking the car, the fuel pump stops running

Re: My fiesta, red mk4 s2 16v Up and running!!
Copied from my technical problems thread on the wiring
right after having ponder with your wiring diagram dave, ive realsied that its not a specific relay i need, its just a relay with them pin numbers, theyre a universal relay (aint i clever working that out on my own )
i used one to run my fog lights i now realise, i have found one on ebay for £3.10: Here it is
but to save time i can get one from Maplins, think theyre a similar price, but without the delievery charge
so if i run a wire to the relay and follow your little diagram, with the earth on pin 85, do i just earth it where it suits me? as your RST plug had it go to pin 2, but on the zetec thats the rev counter signal, so im guessing i ignore that part?
also i should wire pin pin 86 to the "pump on" (3) on the Si loom plug? as this is when the ecu will tell the relay to activate the pump?
lol i hope this is right as ive worked all this out on my own, ME with electrics on a car, i should get the nobel price if it works
Got the info from here in that ebay page

Relay Fitting Info:
Each pin is numbered, 85, 86, 87 and 30.
30 is the power, 87 and 87a (5 pin only, for 4 pin splice on to 87) are power out, eg to horns, spotlamps, etc., 86* is power to switch, 85* is earth *(85 and 86 power the relay coil and there is a diode between the two to ensure the current flows one way)

If you've found the right relay then the one wire you have should turn it on. I think you've found the wrong one. You need to undo the wiring you've done to that relay for the moment and try the test again with the old ecu. Can you hear the pump prime when you turn on the car? In your video you say it primes?
If it does prime try listening out for the relay again. It's should click on and off at the same time the pump turns on and off. There will be other relays which turn on at the same time but won't click off again when the pump stops.

pin 1 to pin 86 on the fuel pump relay is ignition live mate and yeah you could earth it (pin 85)some where with a good earth point we put it on the battery to be sure tho! lol
heres what them 7 pins are
Pin 1: Ignition Live ( switched )
Pin 2: Pin 22 (ECU) to the Fuel Pump Relay..... pin 85
Pin 3: Rev counter
Pin 4: earth
Pin 5: Pins 57 & 37 (ECU) to the Fuel injection Relay pin 87
Pin 6: Oil Pressure switch
Pin 7: positive+ (contant live)

I've looked it up and the pump relay is the one next to the one you've wired it into. The one you've used is down as engine control module.
Put the wiring to that back how it was for that relay and do the same for the next one.

you know why dont you?
when i was doing the priming test, the trip switch was unplugged, so it wouldnt come on, so what am i running the fuel pump on a 1.3 ecu's spec or what? because it does still come on lol okays ill do the same on that relay haha

lol i tottaly missed page 22 out! congrats on getting it running
just a few thoughts.....
both fuel pump and inj relays should click mate!
you havent still got the 1.3 ecu in still have you and wired to the relay?
and maybe you ought to change the pump for a stronger one an xr/rst/si or even a escort gti one as dont they all fit on the carrier (if its the same as a mk3!! lol)
good job tho mate gonna be a good few people copy this conversion once its sorted your engine mounted and running looks almost solid when running too how many engine mounts you got on it?
Dave

Re: My fiesta, red mk4 s2 16v Up and running!!
Yeah, put the relay back and cut and connect to the new one. That will stop the 1.3 ecu using the relay and that should sort you out. Basically how you had it the 1.3 ecu would prime it and then do nothing when the engine is running.
The 1.3 pump is fine, its the same as 1.6/1.8 one anyway.

cheers david!
yea its now sorted, got it wired to the 2nd in relay, starts and runs fine, although on idle now and then the revs can drop as if it wants to stall, hasnt actually stalled yet though, and im having trouble getting the fan to operate, ive fitted the water temp pipe off the 1.3 and plugged it into the 1.3 one, tryed to bridge it and it wouldnt come on, was getting rather hot the car, but yet again its gonna
oo starting to snow now
gonna start to reasemble it now, got a mate coming round now to lend a hand, more man power
oh and
rear zetec engine mount, then on the standard 1.3 box its got the upper gearbox mount (hanging type one) and the lower mount (like a stabiliser)
some pics to come and a vid

Oh yeah forgot to mention, on the mk4 the ecu controls the fan. You either need to wire a temp sensor to the 1.3 ecu or change to the mk3 system.
I wouldn't wory about the idle for now, the ecu has probably lost all its idle setting with the power off for a long time. Get the car drivable first and then see what happens.

heres the 1.3 water temp sensor still in its pipe, so i fitted it between the heater matrix and a joiner

/\ yeah thats it basically. If you want to do it properly take the 12v feed from the fusebox, from one of the main lines that go to 12v when the ignition is on.
Bet you've learnt alot from this

Re: My fiesta, red mk4 s2 16v Up and running!!
ok it was exhaust day today, soon as i give the drivers caliper another coat of paint i got cracking
heres the flexy off the 1.3, with the clamp end cut off, it still needs to be cut to the correct lenght the cover the gap between the mid section and downpipe
so before i could determind how long i needed it, i needed the rest of the system on, so got to it
i had made the bracket/hangers last night as theyre completely different, wish i had just bought a Zetec S system now lol
here was the tricky part, im struggling to fit soemthing to absort the vibrations here, that ring of rubber was supplied with my filter lol, thinking of cutting it to a semi circle, its pretty tight though as the pipe is resting on the tunnel
but in a way thats a good thing as it restricts movement, and movement makes the noises, but it will transfere vibrations at the same time
maybe ill put that ring of rubber over the pipe so it covers both the top and bottem? wouldnt be supprised if i looked and it was gone in a week lol
made the slots to alow it to bend over the downpipe
but then this *big* little fella decided to crawl out
so as they say on here, i moved him in a humain fashion to the garden wall
major welding usage lol
contrary to what you see, that is infact a lapped weld the downpipe is slotted inside, was tough though considering theyre both the same size bore! the weld going up the pipe is where i slotted it to alow for tightening which ive now welded up to prevent blowing,( i didnt have any exhaust paste )
the exhaust is now fitted, just need to get another clamp as i didnt have one big enough to go over the midesction-flexy
even witht hat blowing and the backbox not clamped up properly yet, its now alot quieter, can hear the engine ticking over now, its quieter, but still loud and beafy, i love it, cant wait for it to be sorted to hear it finished
i also fitted one side of the brakes, just needs another coat and its finished, also put the battery on charge as event he second one ive been eusing has died lol, and that was a leasure caravan battery!

here was the tricky part, im struggling to fit soemthing to absort the vibrations here, that ring of rubber was supplied with my filter lol, thinking of cutting it to a semi circle, its pretty tight though as the pipe is resting on the tunnel
but in a way thats a good thing as it restricts movement, and movement makes the noises, but it will transfere vibrations at the same time
maybe ill put that ring of rubber over the pipe so it covers both the top and bottem? wouldnt be supprised if i looked and it was gone in a week lol
made the slots to alow it to bend over the downpipe
but then this *big* little fella decided to crawl out
so as they say on here, i moved him in a humain fashion to the garden wall
major welding usage lol
contrary to what you see, that is infact a lapped weld the downpipe is slotted inside, was tough though considering theyre both the same size bore! the weld going up the pipe is where i slotted it to alow for tightening which ive now welded up to prevent blowing,( i didnt have any exhaust paste )
the exhaust is now fitted, just need to get another clamp as i didnt have one big enough to go over the midesction-flexy
even witht hat blowing and the backbox not clamped up properly yet, its now alot quieter, can hear the engine ticking over now, its quieter, but still loud and beafy, i love it, cant wait for it to be sorted to hear it finished
i also fitted one side of the brakes, just needs another coat and its finished, also put the battery on charge as event he second one ive been eusing has died lol, and that was a leasure caravan battery!
