Can't you fit the si front mount? Surely you must be able to make something up.

well its not that easy, A the mounting bracket on the engine is level with the chassis leg, and the mount itself is made to sit on a leg thats lower down than the bracket on the engine, so a massive spacer would be needed

and B the chassis leg has a curve in it towards the front cross member, which also slopes down, so the engine mount would need tailoring, its alot of work

Cut the chassis leg open and weld a new section in place to fit the mount too. Sounds a ball ache but would be worth it and if you did it right it would look factory too.

On another note, the roads are disgusting the councils should never ever be allowed to leave the roads in such a condition, its unreal the amount of cars that have suffered damage this year. They claim its down to the fact we have had an unusually harsh winter well, nutsack to that this is how winter should be and if then their using this as a sh!t excuse, why during the past 6-7 mild winters have they not got the roads in a good, sound condition? I hate them I /we all pay all this road tax and the roads are like fudgekin lanes not roads!

well dunno if it comes under luck, but the times itsbeen ok, ive thoughrouly enjoyed the car, i love the new engine, it sounds soo fudgekin good , i had the windo down doing less than 30 built up speed in second and the noise was just orgasmic lol, wasnt even planting it, and then i slowly changed to 3rd and it backfire and popped like a race car

minor update

this is the son of a Bic™ that messed up my first front mount, they've now temp filled it which is a relief, dont wanna hit it again by mistake lol



i been up to grahem to have the new mount made up,
this is some of his work hes currently doing for someone, its a folding drive gate, top notch work considering hes doing it alone in his own garage
its off to the powdercoaters later, which do wheels for £50 each, including a refurb




I come back hour later and he had this made for me, in these pics its just a mock up to see if it all fits, it was then welded up solid, before fitting it i will give it some hammerite, and ill be using a bigger rubber this time, if this one fails ill have to look around scrappies for other cars mounts for somehting usable

this is 6mm thick steel, last was 3mm, ive simply got to slot the legs over the chassis leg, bolt it down to the engine, then drill two holes and use studs to bolt it to the chassis, and it should be secure and hopefully strong enough to last




meant to be sunny again tomorrow so i will get cracking, bloody bumpers gotta come off for access

needless to say ive been driving it for a few hours today and its been fine, maybe i dont need one afterall, but id rather be sure, but this mount does make it vibrate much mor einside

it is aye, the mk4 front legs are VERY different to the mk3, higher up and it has a little curve in it, it swoops down lower and towards the bumper a bit, so thats just so it can contour to it a bit better, mind you once its in place is very hard to wiggle it free again lol, had to use a hammer to get it out


anyway, i give the girl a bath today, just a simple wash (with fairy really need to do some shopping lol) and its been the first for months!, aint been cleaned sicne before chrismas, since being garaged and before that was winter so hose pipe was always frozen

she come out well, more red and shiny, its been a while since ive seen it like that lol

bumper is is a right state, was about to start prepping it today, but my mate popped uo asking for errands lol, soo will hopefully start tomorrow


iw as also going to pop two of my XR2i wheels on the mk3 as two have knackered tyres, ill then swap them with my steelies tyres, but i realised i dont have enough alloy nuts for it lol, i have 6 of them
so another day too i guess



after realising that i could just use a joiner to connect my banana, as streching it to fit my maf was a no go, so here we go

i have no idea how to fit that splitter, offering it up it doesnt appear to fit, so cutting needed probs

one of my LED sidelights is packing in flickering like its got terrettes


and i have no idea what a fillet wel dis mate, he was gonna weld a vertical flat piece on the top to stop it bending, but tbh i cant see it doing that lol

thats the sort of bracket im going to fabricate for mine hence why im going with a blacktop zetec as there are 2 bolts very close to where the endura mount is so i can keep the standard bush so when i can affoard it wack a vibra tech engine mount in place

slightly too small though, but not bad for a tenner, fully aluminium, the bar is solid, id expect it to be hollow

my dad knows a mate who works with metal, asked him to put an adjuster in it to make it fit

Hows the front engine mount coming on? How does it drive without it?

tbh i still havent fitted it, was waiting till i refit my red bumper as i can do two things at once, but its honestly been fine without it, only thing you notice it the car juggles a bit when you start it as the engine bounces a bit

reason im a bit amprehentous (sp) of fitting it is it will vibrate like a Bic™ once fitted




had a few things delievered this week, starting with some stickering, due to the relevent parts used thought id pay hommage, but im still clueless to where to put them, the NGK is rather big so cant fit them under the bonnet except maybe the underside of the actual bonnet, but will be hard to see it there,

any ideas where to use them?


also new rear Anti roll bar brakets for a Si so i can start fitting my arb, but i had to scurry around trying to sources a long enough pair of bolts that will be going throught the rear beam to bolt the inside brackets, i finally found some M10x100mm along with washers and nylon nuts, was a bit wasted today by the time id got home so will start tomorrow

was in a scrappy today as ford wanted £27 for a speedo cable, and £19-£32 for a throttle cable

so picked one out of a mk5 escort 1.3, original above and escort below, im glad ford have stuck to the same basic rule on most parts no matter the age




fitted it, im so thrilled to finally have done it, it was so jerky taking off and when changing gears before as it was so stiff and stick,

also im going back to my original intake pipe too as the bannana was noticably sucking it self shut under heavy accelerating, was slowing the car down and i think using more fuel, so back in with the ford one
shoudl be buying Ratspeeds chargecarrier one coem may so will be tarted up once again soon


due to the right sized cable i needed to alter the bracket for it to hold right, so cleaned it up using wire drill bits as it was off




looks much better and fits like a glove



then i got the bug to polish up more things, so started with the heatshield, pics dont do it justice

failed at this part, but the whole cam cover needs strippign and repainting anyway



want to polish more stuff now, might get some sand paper out and metal polish to make the pas pipe look better, but not gonna bother with the inlet as its making room for an HO soon

ive also bought a little box that i will paint and cut to fit the ECU in it and mount it in thw wing where to is now

im excited abotu tomorrow now as not only should the rear arb be fitted, but while int he scrappy i found some mk3 RS1600i wheels in good nick (two have slightly bent rims on the inside) that im trading for the XR2i wheels i had a while ago
which im over the moon about as thyere rare and cheap as dirt more or less scrap value £40, they even have the motorsport stamp on the spokes, so theyre genuine

Very fond of that part of the country, my cousin lives in Crickhowell nr Abergavenny. Been up the mountains a few times, fondly remember an RAF figher jet screaming 20ft above us on the "Sugarloaf" if I remember correctly!
