Re: My fiesta
ok lil update
done my boot light i had to wire on up since my car is lowest spec model and doesnt have the wiring, ive done a little guide for wiring one up if you also dont have the wiring
anyway piccies
its a bit dim, i may buy another set or i may change the colour, maybe white, i want to keep a red and black theme, since there aint a black light and would be little point in having one since i wouldnt see anything, white is the only colour is the only one thats impartial

Re: My fiesta
i had the carpets up to tuck the speaker wires under then since the seats out, and i found some real bad rust, accually a hole in the floor, so instead of scrapping the car im gonna have a go at fixing it, its helpful that im a qualified welder eh?
got my mates welder so first i gotta treat the rust...
ok update on the *grrrr* rust ill let the pics do the talking:
started by cleaning up the area with an angle grinder, and since i accendly pushed the floor pan up by jacking the car where it was weakest a while back the floor was distorted, so i used a sledge to bat it back down, you can see where the hole is and the ground beneth it
then it was time for it to be chemically reacted, with some hamemrite kurust:
and then applied it and let it do its work!:
and then after 3 hours of some PAIN for the dasterly rust it waws time for an over coat in some smooth red hammerite , some stuff i sued to do my discs and calipers in:
will be doing some welding tomorrow XD

Re: My fiesta
that rust is fairly bad mate.
but as above, whats the point in painting it? dont matter if you weld it inside or out, the paints gunna burn off and need doing again.
and tbh, that kill rust you put on is nothing more than a token gesture, the rust is going to keep on going, cut the rust out, thats the best and only way to srt it fully, and if i was you, forget the filler, plate it inside and out, fully weld it on the outside, but if you must and dont want to fully weld it on the inside, do half inch tac's around the inside plate.
yeah this is over kill, but filler is just not really a option is it

Re: My fiesta
That rust is pretty bad! Also the holes by beside the door on the floor are going to need to be done properly as that's an MOT fail as it's towards the bottom seat belt bracket!
I'd do what Jay said personally, it will stop the rust coming back and save you having to go through the same process again

Re: My fiesta
you dont need to replace the floor, get some steel and cut it to size, side of a old filing cabnet or something.
when he had said its close to seat belt, i think he means its a within the distance they state for a mot.

Re: My fiesta
ok ehres that update
ok after a day of slaving bloody sweat and other bodily fluids the drivers side is done!
after yesterday curing the rust, today was all about welding and painting!
i started today by preping the metal plates by grinding them back to their pure form (free of any dirt sh!t and muck) this gives the weld a good grip on things and also prevents any future rust forming that was already on the plate, i cut the sizes and made any cutlines that were needed for the shape of the inner sill:
a pic of me wearing some P.P.E, safety first eh? (must admit i dont look to happy do i?)
i then started to weld the first two plates in, one on the lower/closer to me, and one away from me, the mig was a swine to get used to, was different to what im used to
a pic of me looking like that deadspace guy lol, i think i look cool int hat pic
then the third plate was in, underneath the vin no. plate, which is irrelivent now since you can bearly make out the figures on it,
forgot to take one of the forth plate going in but got some of it completed:
i used silicone to mask the welds and fill in any gaps the plating missed so the MOT guy cant see daylight from underneath, also to prevent any water coming up, and maybe causing futher rust, then after the silicone dryed i hammerited the whole area to seal it, underneath the car is a similar story, silicone to fill any gaps that would be suspisious to inspection that it isint road worthy, and hammerited over the whole welding area, i also hammerited any naked rust areas to try and prevent them getting worse, i also done the previous welds that someone was too lazy to paint over, some ppl eh?
i will be finishing the job off tomorrow by treating the rust on the passengers side, which gladly aint as bad, theres no holes showing the floor there but same bad surface rust which will need some attention, i will then use up the alst of my hammerite to lock the rust out and im done, no more driving the car round tot he lane with no drivers seat WOOP, nightmare trying to park trust me
well i hope if anyone finds rust this will inspire them to have a crack at solving it themselves to avoid forking out the triple figures on a professional, im just glad i have the right friends who can lend me the tools for it, pays to have good company eh?
oh yea my red tinting spray come today so if i get 5 mins tomorrow ill start doing my rears
and then later in the week ill buy some Yellow hammerite and a new top mount suspension bush since mines fooked, the car jumps a bit round a bend  , and ill take my back axle off and give its some paint and do the bush at the same time
all thats left after that is to get a new drivers side track rod end and a new set of rear brake shoes since one of my cylinders has leaked and the brakes are contaminated, and since you cant only get one pair of shoes ill have to get the set , but i wont do the drivers side since they are almost new, only about 4 months into theyre life, adjust them up and i got my full braking power back WOO, lol and my back end should finally lock up like it should be able to, cant wait now gonna be fun doign all this god i love my cars!

oh yea i dont mind grinding off the paint where the welds need to be, i knew i was gonna have to anyway, i was just following the guidelines on the kurust bottle lol, at the end of the day i respect and take in your advice, but im doing this my ownway, and if it works for me, thats how ill do it, but please dont think im trying to spite you guys or something, i am grateful for your replies

jayrs :when he had said its close to seat belt, i think he means its a within the distance they state for a mot.
Aye, because yours is a 3dr car you'll have the seat belt bar thing that the bottom of the seat belt attaches to and any major rust/holes in that will fail your car so don't go cutting any corners
On the bright side, good work on the welding
