Mk4 Silvertop Zetec 16v -- aim is 140bhp, 2.0 cams in!
Re: My fiesta
the ghia is a complete wreck now, running gear is dropped out, air con is out of the way safely, everything is disconnected from the engine halfshafts are off, gear linkages etc, all i need now is an engine hoist to lower it down, meant to be lending one off a mate of my old man
at start
out comes running gear
i really dont like these engines, theyre complex, akward and too japannse (sp)
ill update once the engines out and i have the steering rack in my hands

Yeah when we had a spare engine in the garden we used for parts it weighed a ton! taking the manifold, gearboxand head off then draining all the fluids made the lower half of the engine a lot easier to move!!
Just rip it apart Jon, you might even find it fun

Re: My fiesta
ive finished all the arch painting now witht he rear passenger one done, this was the rusties corner too, mostly round below the filler cap
i also done the whole of the rear beam and cut away at some of the lining (was gonna leave it out) since it was rubbing the tyre
i also fitted the passengers side cetral locking mechanism, so just need to wire it all up soon as ive planned out how to go about it, its gonna be a fiddly b***h to do
will update when its on its way

Mot tomorrow, will let you guys know how it goes, but tonight i swap the seats over with my grandad and tightened up the sluggish hand brake, realyl chuffed with it, it even locks up and skids now so if i ever needed any proof h:

seems interest in my threads gone down hill of late
the car failed the Mot today ont he following
-n/s headlight aim too low FIXED
-o/s headlight aim to high FIXED
-o/s seatbelt ancorage /sill corrosion FIXED
-both rear brake lines are excessively tight when jacked up, i knew of this before im gonna move where the clamp mounts so they have a are closer lessing the stress on the lines, id rather perminantly fix this now then swapping the rubbers over and then back every year
-o/s brakelight failed, which apears to be complete nutsack as as i was watching the whole time and it was always on, even when i raped the hell out of it back at home to see if it would fail, only instance was when i pushed the bulb in, understandably
since its 4/5 ive rebooked it for monday

At least it didnt fail on too much mate. I've had mot's before where they have said that some of the bulbs wer'nt working and they have changed them but know they are lying as I have checked all the bulbs just before the mot and there is no evidence of anything in the bulb area being touched!

Re: Jonyb4, My fiesta 1.3 mk4
ok been busy tonight,A on my ghia boot and B on the mk3, please check out that thread
i started by grinding back the surface of the handle hole and the wiper hole
then i stencledthe outline of the handle itself, and started to cut it out
finished result
i then fine tuned it and refering to the actualy hole on the boot itself for adjustments
thwen relised that id need more metal to weld on as the holes werent fully covered, its
hard to cut accurately with them metal cutters
then after the weld and grind back
then i done the wiper hole but the plate was offered up from behind this time
all ready for filler now, ive even started to rub back the paint
more to come tomorrow

Re: My fiesta
I've gotta say the back of your car is looking sweet now, just a few things and I'm probably stating the obvious,
is there anyway you can bring the exhaust out a bit so it's in line with the bumper? just doesn't look 100% right with it tucked behind the bumper if you get me?
Then the little square cover, fit that and then the back will look sweet!!!
Nice work so far though mate, you're doing great!

Re: My fiesta
Looking good Jon. I can't find a decent cheap ZS bumper especially since I'd have to spray it. Good luck with the search for ZS skirts too, they come up occasionally around this neck of the woods but really expensive, £70 per side!?
Things I'd change...
MK5 side strips - the MK4 and MK5 look too smooth without the side strips
Standard MK5 front bumper (to go with side strips and boot strip)
debadge completely except boot lock
exhaust outside of bumper
side skirts of some kind
Cheers
Nick

-umm, nah to the door strips, maybe in the future, but no for now
-also no to the mk5 bumper, i like mine
-it is completely debagded except the ford on boot, but if you want to include the "1300" badge no lol, i liek that its a neat touch, and completely debadging is over done, although i do love how it looks, but i wanna be different
-exhaust yea done soon hopfully, but raining all the time persuades you not to get on the floor in the wet lol
-and yea i plan to get some skirts soon as
done an engine service today, oil, the filter and plugs, for obvious reasons i didnt buy a air filter lol

Re: My fiesta
As I say mate just my opinion lol. Btw there's something on the left of the bootlid too
the only thing that annoys me with the mk4 and mk5 is the destripe. The car looks too bland especially the ZS. Colour coded side strips look better than a complete destripe IMO. I only mentioned those and the front bumper due to te fact that the strip on the rear bumper doesn't look right when there's nothing on the side or front that resembles it.
Having said that I do like the car a lot, I just can't help but think something looks out of place...
