Looking good. Can you just wire up your horn to a push button, the one where you push it and release it, not a toggle switch?

car is almost finished, drove it out of the garage today, but i hadent bleed the clutch right, and it soon went spongy, so had to push it back in, it was too late to carry on so in for tonight,

but its all done except, front bumper, fan switch, bleeding brakes (back also) new fluid too and needs more antifreeze, but my battery is flat agian, im preying that the alternator is wired up right, mine checked the battery acid levels, they were shocking ly low, so toppe dit up with water (i live in the vallies, water here is naturally de-ionised :Q )

video of running from yesterday, silenced here

where now? near the maf sensor plug? on the same part of wiring? theres three connectors blanked off :-?

turns out that the clutch isnt biting, been talking to a local mechanic, he reckons that it could be the thrust bearing is thicker ont he 1.3 box then would have been on a 1.8 set up

hence not fully allowing the clutch to disengage, which is why i only get a smidge of bite at the top of the pedal

so off to the motor factors tomorrow to ask if i can view the kit for a 1.8 zetec and fro the 1.3 hcs and measure the bearings to see if and what the difference is, likely theyre is, if so the box is gonna have to come out

very anoying this, and ill see if the ebaring ont he 1.8 gearbox can fit it, if not a new clutch kit it is

ill be driving the green mk3 for now then, its taking too long this and using insurance up and wasting money

The clutch bearings are completely different, you won't be able to change it. Have a look at the old flywheel/ clutch and see if there is any difference

yes
mk4 is hydrualic, only change is theres no fork mechansism, a master cylinder is there instead, the bearing slides ontot he main shaft like any other ive seen, and the master cyl pushes it out

just liek a fork in a conventional box, ill inspect the escort box tomorrow, and compare with the haynes diagrams, also gonna check the differecnes with each clutch kit at the factors tomorrow

couldnt i use an alternative clutch kit? one that sits closer to the flywheel or the pressure plate sits clsoer tot he flywheel?

basicly to even out the extra thickness of the 1.3 bearing

what are xr2i kits like? do they fit the zetec?

well if you used a standard zetec gearbox, and a 2i clutch, surely my zetec clutch is fitting my hcs box, so yea lol theres a solid relation there, it should do,

i just need to find the right combination of release bearing and clutch, to get the right measurements

ill try to compare a 1.3, 1.8 escort oen and a 2i one then if they have each

lol what the heck?! i never wrote that

umm ive been asking around been up to see a bloke running a body shop near me, hes got a mk5 zetec s with a puma lump, and rare Frp spacro seats in it :o also a P reg rst looker with a RS2000 engine in it running near 180bhp :Q

anyway he reckons is deffo the clutch, and that i should try for another that match, i suggested a diesel one as they could handle the torque from the 1.8, then coming home i decied that the diesel box altogether would be best as theyre stronger and have the better ratio's, the 2.0 ZT puma in Febs Fast ford mag had the derv box, seems it was just bolted straight on, mind that had a LSD fitted too

can anyone confirm that this diesel combination will work?

Re: My fiesta, red mk4 s2 16v Gearbox spacer question?!

Postby jonyb4 on Thu Feb 18, 2010 5:03 am

ive had bit of an epiffany, cant i get away with fitting a spacer plate to the gearbox? in between the block and box?

also id rather be over the top with its thickness rather than under, i dont need the clutch to fully press down,a s you can stil change gear with only it pressed at a quater, but too little and i wont grip the clutch

anyone got any idea how thick of a plate? and what i can use as the plate? i was thinking just fitting a few zetec sandwich plates, maybe another 2?

Postby Ruishy1 on Thu Feb 18, 2010 7:50 am

It depends on how far you have to space it mate, and how much of the input shaft is located in spigot ring.
use gearbox spacers untill you have the right position, measure how thick it is.
Then you need to know how much you have situated in the spigot, if you dont have enough you will need a custom one machined up.
