without conversion, its getting close to £1500, but its had alot of repairs and service parts on top of mods,
the engine, brakes and exhaust on top has set it to nearing £2000 :oooh:

Postby jonyb4 on Fri Mar 26, 2010 1:10 am

its a 1.8 so no deep desk or dewy, im using the mondeo 1.8 BLOB ecu as it has internal edis

im not even sure you can use the Si silvertop loom for the blacktop

umm no i didnt cut up the endura loom, i tapped into certain bits like the lambda live etc also the fuel pump relay was cut off for the orignal 1.3 ecu, and rerouted to the 1.8 one, all thats done in the aux fuse box

if your serious about doing it , you brst take a long hard read through my thread about the wiring

and the second mondeo ecu is temp positioned beside the battery bubble wrapped and in a box, i need to put it in a metal or plastic case and mount it to the chassis/wing

well today me and matt thought we'd paint our cam covers/engine covers

i choose hammerite red (BIG mistake to brush this on, it weas very thick and left streaks)
and matt choose british racing green

i also done my dip sticker too, the top yellow part is now red

some bad news, i tested the tension on the cam belt while it was showing, and its very loose, i could actually slide the belt side to side on the cam pully so gonna have tio tighten it tomorrow

Nice thread, Car's come a long way!

And done cheaply too! My Ka owes me £10k (including everything I've spent on it, not just conversion) and about to owe me at least £12k!

Well done on the conversion anyhow :)

well this is my day to day car, i need it to be reliable, so id be happier to go through the effort and headaches of wiring the injection in, you will still need to wirin in the ECU and sensor lives, also the radiator fan, as i did above and rev and temp gauges, so your only really saving on about 2-3 wires lol

lol i didnt draw the dinosaur you can see, mines hidden by the pen as its discraceful haha, my friends drew that, her drawsings alot better than mine haha

slight update ont he timing belt, from less than 10 minutes running over last night and this morning to travel round to my lane and street, the timing belt has actually slipped along the cam pullies half a cam pully revelusion :o after i marked it last night

and due to me not having a CLUE about timing and the like, and not wanting to f**k up my just finished conversion, im taking it up to my locat greasemonkey to sort it, retimed and tightened up, i still dont think the belt needs doing, will see what he recommends

something might be coming of the green mk3 i have, an offers come up that includes a part ex with a mk4 diesel :oooh:

i wanna take a closer look at it but seems we might go for it as scrap value could make the difference, ill keep you updated

will be sad to see it go
