Re: My fiesta, mk4 Zetec 16v -- the aim is 140bhp
Seen a chevvy impala at the scrappy today, was nice since im a big supernatural fan
well it was inlet day today
comparisons of the So and Ho
gasket one is SO
So
Ho
SO left, HO and then 1.6
removing the Throttle body off the 1.6 wasnt easy, last owner used loctight and garden screws to hold it on
so cut off the bolts and removed all the sensors
ports were a bit merky
and polished them up
polished up the ISCV also
had to make a make shift gasket for it as the rubber one collapsed after i removed it from the 1.6 i need a new one
had some trouble getting it to idle right after it was back together, after some potching and some luck, it was ok, didnt drive it far as it was something past 11, but it felt more powerful and torque was higher
after a 2.0 ECU next, the mrs is looking for some cams for me at the same time, wink wink wayne

Re: My fiesta, mk4 Zetec 16v -- the aim is 140bhp
desprate to get rtid of my heat soak problem, i tried to revert to the standard air box, but since this engine was never meant to sit in the mk4
its harder to get it to standard
drilled for better flow
VERY streched to fit as maf wouldnt fit in the box hole, a puma 1.7 box would have worked
it sounded good, and went ok, (at the time my maf was franked but i didnt know it was making it sluggish) so i blamed the airbox, with a better panel filter it would have worked
but i went back to induction kit, and decided to wrap the underside of the intake pipes in silver stickyback foil
i gotta admit i didnt expexct much, but f**k me it works a treat, the pipes bearly get hot, compared tot he rocker cover theyre lukewarm, event he silicon hoses get hotter and they are usually cool compared, so heatsoak has been defeated to a degree, could still do with a better cold air feed
also i fitted my spare maf, ive never known what its for maybe a 2.0 the way it can hunt on idle, bt atleast its given my power back without having to unplug the maf and lose 10mpg :?
so im glad its running sweet again

Nice to see you've put the standard air box back in. A far cry from when you told me whats the point of putting the air box back in:
How times change eh? LOL. Noticed a difference in MPG?
jonyb4 :sounds like alot of work for a bit of noise, a £12 ebay cone filter would do perfectly, and will look better

Re: My fiesta, mk4 Zetec 16v -- the aim is 140bhp
Today i decided to strip the rear beam off the car and repaint, and correctly convert it to have an Anti roll bar
to be an extended job the capri was once again kicked out of the garage
nicely fresh painted garage floor too
so back end all stripped, wheels, hubs, suspension struts and beam off, noticed that one of my wheel studs was chewed up, so lucky i had a spare off the fronts from when i fitted the longer ones the other day
so that was replaced, cant joke around with wheel nuts...
excuse my hanging the hubs on the brake lines
started to drill the holes needed for the inside mountings, the minion at work good job matt
one side finished, the cutout shouldnt alter the beam structually to much, need to use some washers too
then it was time to strip it back down and paint it
and the Arb
hoping to take the arch linings off tomorrow and red hammerite under them, silver is so not a good idea, rust shows through and gets really dirty quick! hammerite red is a good colour match to radiant red anywhoo
get it built back up and see what this arb can do
im certain standard mk4 beamsare stronger than mk3 ones, seems to have more and bigger re-enforcement on it

aye suface rust plotted all over underneath
as for the boot lights, i dont want them on all the time, the switch is only for when leaving the boot open too long, they light up when the boots opened via the switch on the pin connector plate, you just open the boot and they come on

Dont think my RS ECU will work with it mines a PATS one. Ask Ratty he might have a early RS1800 ecu from his.

PATS is a separate system on all MK3s that were fitted with it - it's completely stand alone from the ECU

unfortuanatly matts ecu is a OFAB/C one so it wont have an edis, wont run my late zetec engine
you sure no mk3's had pats internally simon? speaking for all mk3's including 3.5's or just mk3s
yea wasnt clever of me to leave the hubs hanging like that should have put a paint tin under them lol
and the carrier honestly hasnt ratted much, its meant to be skimpy like that
