UPDATE
since i had a day off, i thought it was time i done something else tot he car
i loved trecoll's (F4OC) idea of tinting the headlights
so i got to work:
while i was out with the grill ive given it another layer or two:
also my F4OC stickers come today so i stuck them on there in the left rear window and tailgate window:
and while the garage shutter was open i took a decent pic of the escort:
thoughts much welcome

Re: My fiesta
ok update time
ok heres a pic of the headlights in daylight
since i had a day off yesterday (bad snow) i decided to get the mirrors done
started by taking the passenger side one off since i only have time for one today,
so then i prepaired it by using multiple grades of sand paper, then i used some thinners to clean the surface and then
give it a layer of primer, then followed by another one
then it was time for its 4 layers of radiant red paint
the finishing touch in my opinion is stunning
and then i refitted it after a few hours of baking infront of the gas fire
and since i didnt have one and someone showed interest in it heres a pic of my dads 1969 mk1 capri

Re: My fiesta
well lol i accually used this cheapy sandpaper from tesco, only 75p and it has multiple grades in it they said they were ranging from 60-100 grit but when i made a slight imperfection on the primer i used 1200 gritt to smooth it out and then painted over it, the tesco value sandpaper may be cheap but it sure did work in this case

Re: My fiesta
ok update!
i took the rear seats, carpeting and insulation out today to try some weight loss
as i was taking them out i give the flooring a good hard clean
then when i was done with all that i went for a spin and boy o boy was there a difference, more acceleration, more response and alot more feeling in the car i was very suprised to find it would make that much difference
, i would deffinately recommend it to someone who wants a cheap way to up there performace or if you dont have the biggest engine like me (only a 1.3) to have a go at some weight loss
heres some pics
ok then today i went looking in the scrappies for some parts and ended up with these, i tell you its a good thing i removed my seats last night
all for £20 which i think is a bargain, i will restore them over the next few days and make a new black grill similar to my one between the headlights to go in the lower part also
i got home and decided to put the seats back in as i was only trying the weight loss thing, so i thought it be a good time to give the seats and carpeting a good clean with some turtle wax upholstry cleaner
ive also had the idea of painting a few parts of the car in a new black finish since they have faded over the years, so far im gonna do the two roof rack strips and the base of the ariel, any idea what else i can do
id like to paint the lower part of the bumpers black, under the swage line, to be different as i dont want it being "just another fiesta" if you get me
feedback on this welcome
cheers jon

Car is coming along nicely mate! Mk4s are really growing on me i love the shape of them. Great thing youve done on the headlights shame i cant do it on mine!
Has it made them alot dimmer?
The idea about paintin the bottom of the bumpers black is good, think it would look nice and different

They wheels would look good black, but you would need to find a small center cap to cover the hole in the middle

Re: My fiesta
ok update time! yay!
ok got started on some of them things in the list
first one was i removed the bottem half of the airbox which was just sitting there and using up room, also the original cold air piping going to it also came out there were 4 pieces in total
next i sorted out the random sensor that was just dangling in the old airbox, not 100% sure what it is but it may be important lol, i was pluged in the side of the airbox and when i put the cone in a while back its just been hanging over the side ever since, so i drilled a hole in the inlet pipe and secured it in place and sealed it using some silicone, while the pipe was being altered i done the cold air pipe which is as far as i can tell foil piping im not sure what its originaly meant for but it works great, i also cleaned up all the arrangement including my crankcase breather and the wires for that sensor, much tidier down there now
im pretty sure most of you know what the benefits of cold air ducting are, better cold air delivery, which in turn provides more engine response and in my experience lowers the running temp of your engine, it also gives that sporty look too

You sure on the bumpers? I reckon it will make the bumpers look shallow and the car quite high from a distance, but, your choice. Will have to wait to see though. Also, maybe a red cold air duct would look better behind your grill?

Re: My fiesta
ok entering the last stages of the front bumper now, filler and final coating
once the filler was nice and smooth i primed it, and give it the last few layers of red, i have yet to give the black another layer or two:
this is the paint ive used:
im seriously thinking about fitting some fog lights as i think they would look great with the red and black , they can be pricey though
and heres a pic of my alloys these are the ones ill be painting black, obviously after some filler:
and these are the ones of my dads capri:

update: colour coding takes over!
ok bumper is finally finished
but im not as pleased with it as i was hoping, the paint is a little brighter than the rest of the car and a part of it dont fit properly its leaving a gap by the O/S headlight, it just doesnt feel like all the time and effort ive put into it doesnt quite look upto it, but it does look better by far though and i do like the black, its nice and different
my hand accually made the picture better lol
you know what its accually growing on me now i like it

ok bumper is finally finished
but im not as pleased with it as i was hoping, the paint is a little brighter than the rest of the car and a part of it dont fit properly its leaving a gap by the O/S headlight, it just doesnt feel like all the time and effort ive put into it doesnt quite look upto it, but it does look better by far though and i do like the black, its nice and different
my hand accually made the picture better lol
you know what its accually growing on me now i like it
