took it for a shakedown up the mountain roads to see if it goes ok and find any teething problems, the engine performed well

however the new brakes are seizing, anoying as theyre new tot he car and gone already, dunno what ill do as ive gotta be in cardiff for the new exhaust

is there anything i have to do to the servo vaccum hose after fitting a new intlet or something?

oook i took the car upto grayem to get the front engine mount, incase you forgetton or dont know why i have to do it like this, the mk4 chassis leg seems to be sitting alot higher up to where the mk3 one does, so the front zetec mount really doesnt fit, so on with the pics

the culprate
Image

and the plate to hold the weight
Image

Image
Image

bolted down to locate it for the welding
Image

Image
Image

all done, im using a exhaust hanger rubber to absorb the vibrations, however i later learned it aint that good at it lol, but what can i expext its about 1.5cm thick with bolts right through is so you cant eliminate all that much through it
Image
Image
Image

My new cat and down pipe, its removed from an L reg 1.8 escort ghia, i might use the whole thing instead of mine, as mine has a crappy welded on flexy, but if i do, ive got a cat permanantly
Image

i then took the car for a small 2 mile spin brakes are still sticking, but im taking it to the local garage wheres hes gonna take the pistons out and give them some abrasive compond and them anti-seize, id do it myself but im going to west wales and i need the car ready for monday to go to cardiff for the new exhaust

so now its got its bumper back on, my encore bumper is on for now, once i start my new job ill pay for it to be sprayed professionally so no more stone chips

parked outside for first time in over 3 months, i love the new headlight bulbs, compared to the fogs theyre so white

just the exhaust on monday and its truely complete

its 6mm thick mild steel

but to be fair, its bearly doing anything but stabilising the engine under reving and driving, it would probs be fine without it

That thing was so weird to drive compared to the puma... made me want a zetec over a 1.7 now. deffo want them brakes!
Might look into getting a focus lump dropped in mine... be different.

And the only reason i beat you on the (private stretch  ) motorway, was the gearing i think... and i can rev higher. As i said... was doing around 90mph in 3rd....

hmm you might be onto something there mate :Q

sleeper at a half hours job lol, but i do still love the look with colour coded ones on it

lol matt yea gearing was my downfall on the little sprint, i should have used 3rd, like you said you can likely rev higher in your gears as mines a shorter box, however that doesnt mean the engine cant rev that high, think it limits at 6.5k or so, i aint really revved it up that high as the exhaust is too loud atm

cheers ruishy, aye id like to see it done more, but at the same time i like being one of the few who have, makes it more special and unexpected

:D cant wait for the new pipes tomorrow now, should sound much more civilised and not like a hill climber or something

ill kick your arse later on cod again Matt :aviator:

small update

got my new exhaust system fitted today by charlie and the lads at Pro speed in cardiff centre

top job they done hats off to them, charlie really knows his pipes :Q

Image
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image

thanks to matt for coming with me, as it did take a few hours lol

flexi pipe welded to end of my downpipe, midsection with no rear box, no cat and re aligned and re piped my exsisting backbox and new hangers all round, all in stainless steel

and it sounds brilliant, very raspy and grunty, nice pops and bangs on the over rev

so over all im very happy, i might be going back there come november for a sports cat fitted :aviator:

exhaust run

:Q

next few thingas to be getting done is mainly a engine service and get it on a dyno see whats what

then next few mods after i start my new job in april :aviator:
