Excursion :
leighk2010 :cheers mate will the bottom mount work the same or will this be needed to be changed as well

All very similar, you won't have to do anything more involved than what you're already doing with the engine mount.

cheers mate im thinking bout going back to trying to use the standard focus mount the bracket bit and modifying it to fit then take a point of the inner wing so it can bolt to there also just a idea i been playing with in my head

whats the best focus box to go for then just so i can get an idea were to mock the mounts up etc for gear box

cheers mark

You may as well fit either an MTX or the ST 6 speed gearbox.

Get a 2.0 Zetec Focus gearbox, it will have the right bellhousing pattern for your engine, hydraulic clutch, and similar mounts.

I do love it when a car looks like a car again during a build :)
It makes you realise that all the cut knuckles and swearing will be worth it at the end :Q

bit more done today and well i hate removing the black sound proofing took hours to just one bit done really could of done with a heat gun :(

before:
Image

after :
Image

then also removed these two patches and also this bit of heat shield of the bulk head as the exhaust it now at the front of the engine
Image
Image
Image
Image

then also patched all the holes up were things have been riveted to the floor i believe this is all of them now so next step is painting the inside of the car :) as all sound proofing has been removed

just to give you a idea how many there was also quite a few more which aint in this pic
Image

also have coved holes in the floor were im guessing he had buckets bolt straight to the floor have used the fir trees to block these up but also instead of just sealing under them have spread sealer over the top as well
Image

also a sneaky pic of the floor points for the roll cage what were already in the shell

it will be really dont no what to do as st170 box would be better but the normal 2.0 would be fine to start with and with the other cash could probs get a exhaust manifold and start on some bike carbs ;)

surely you can find a firm willing to do some aluminium welding or alloy what ever the sumps made of and alter the bolt patters for you?

im sure that area isnt directly linked to the oil compartment

its not just the bolt patten on the sump i idealy want to keep it rear starter as well

have now made my mind up and going for a 2.0 focus mtx75 box :) can always upgrade to a 170 box when the time is needed :P so hopfully should be able to progress with this soon

I'm glad you put pics up of the fuel tank, I'm in process of removing mine :P atleast i know how it looks.

The car looks like its coming along well, looking forward to seing the end result. I've always wanted a fiesta zetec s, one with a tidy engine would make my day. Maybe even a mag feature?

i could only ever hope for a mag feature but there is quite a few zs with good engines in a guy over on zsoc has a rs turbo engine in and a few are going for the 2.0 engine now

if i can sell my coilovers and get some standard shocks and springs which mite of arranged with a guy im tempted to buy a st170 engine for it

i could do but thinking bout just using the mtx75 box so can keep solid flywheels and cheaper clutch. As the clutch in the 6 speed is part of the dual mass flywheel so have to get a new fly with the clutch making it more £££ were as i don't really need the 6 speed lol
