well big thanks to mark! 2.0 focus ecu come today so went up to my mums to give it ago and the PATS light went straight out which means ecu is working as it should and means i have kept the PATS system in the car, also reprogrammed the key fob and central locking all still works, Then just to check tryed the old key and PATS light just kept flasing so all good :D

also the plastic fir trees come thought today so have started to patch all holes up in the floor but a pack of 25 was not enough so need to order some more

Excursion :Nice one mate, my research is sure to help a lot of people in the Ford community.

hats off to you mate was bit unsure if would work with out changing something but first time light come on red then went out so was very happy so cant see no reason why it wont run the engine and saves me having to do any wiring really so its a big help and saves a lot of time and when turn the key hear a relay click so assume thats the one for the pump so all good :) also have been told the zs shafts should work in the focus box so just a case of finding how it mounts etc

will be picking that mock engine up over the weekend and will sort you them bits you wont for cheap if still intrested mate

if the blacktop has the same bolt pattern as a silvertop for the bellhousing.

if it does the Se box wont bolt to it. the earlier Ka's have HCS engines, and they share the bolt patterns as the zetecs

Jon is right, the Diesel Mk5 'box is your best bet. Specifically the TDDi Mk5 as this 'box was stronger than the rest.

we will see its really just a test engine but if it runs ok it will be ok for now, main thing is to get it all in and working atm to sort all niggles out and to get all other parts needed and mounted up as then just be a case of chaning the engine for a better one or if i can find one a brand new black top have seen quite a few on ebay and a fresh brand new engine would be great and only comes in at few hundred pound more than rebulding a full engine any way

lol was just saying it on the part of just see how it is

only down side of that is, if your done and start using it, and the engine pops its alot more of an inconviance to get it swapped than if your still in the process of finishing the car, EG digging all the relevent tools out etc

No its not particularly no, but once your set in your way about using it, or even relying on it it gets a bit more of a deal to swap them

Yes that's right. Either sump or bellhousing needs modifying at the bottom edge.

Oh right, How much would that cost roughly? and what gear box shim do I need to be using? also is it best to run the starter motor at the front like on tddi gearbox or at the back how the black top engine has it?

if the box has it on the front, you have little choice in the matter

unless you plan on mounting a supercharger there in the future liek youve entioned in johnbois thread, it wont be an issue tbh

well little more of a update bolted up the mk5 hddi gear box and mounted to the car and lined engine up its 99% in place got a good idea what i need to do to the mount so next will be getting it mounted and the engine supporting its self. Will let the pics do the talking

will need to get the bottom of the blacktop sump moidifed to allow the mk5 box to mount to it but the top part of the box mounts to the engine as it should
