mobile speed camera?????
driving down the a1 today, was probably doing around 95mph give or take a little. it was in a lgv transit connect lwb.
i saw two guys crouching down on a bridge, they didnt have any reflective clothing on at all, didnt see very well but i think they were pointing a speed camera.
i dont know what to do, im quite scared, if i lose my license i lose my job!
does anybody know, do police men ever take speeds in non uniform????
also, does anybody know how long it takes to come through the post? bare in mind that its a company van and its registered with the company.
someone please help me out and let me know.
thanks

Re: mobile speed camera?????
speed traps have to be highly visible, and the officer has to be in uniform. It was probably some kids mucking around or something...

I see that van going around all the time, its not a speed van, its for the London Low Emission Zone. I was a bit freaked first time I saw it but it looks really silly with teh CCTV camera poking out of the top!

Re: mobile speed camera?????
thats the thing, there was two guys, kneeling down on a bridge, i think they had white tshirts, and pointing something at the traffic?!
there was no van in sight at all... and no signs no tripod, no nothing?! so i really dont know weather it was someone taking the speed or some fcuking inbred idiots playing around!!
the person sayin its 100+ to lose your license, my van is considered an lgv because it has no rear windows and no rear view mirror, so its legal speed limit on motorway is 60 instead of 70 which would have made me 30+ over the limit... instant ban.
i still dont know and its always in the back of my mind. if i lose my license i lose my job and pretty much everything i got...
if i get away and dont get a ticket i will not be driving over 80 durin daylight anymore! PROMIS

You'll probably be alright. Even if you were caught they have to get the NIP to you in 14 days and the fact that they were trying to be covert gives you good argument in court. You wont lose your license either, I have been caught in a van doing 97 and just got a fixed penalty.
Those that can, do; and those that can't, talk about it.

There wasnt a camera on the top it was a speed camera van with the camera pointing out the back through the tinted glass. theirs an anpr? camera going into london on the a2, with a marked car. I thought the cameras going all across he roads, the new ones with 3-4 cameras on the poles going accross the roads were the emmision cams.

Oh, ok, I'm probably not thinking of the same van. Not all roads into london have the poles, so the transit is used where they don't have cameras.
