Modified front lower suspension arms from IanH

CVH and Zetec tuning, suspension and braking mods.

Mention has been made that these are a must for reducing torque steer, and more worthwhile than a LSD box. Is this true?

* What mods are done to the suspension arms?
* Do they bolt straight on?
* Is this the same conversion that Ahmed offers?
* Advantages/disadvantages?
* How much?
* Contact details for Ian (phone/mobile/email)?

As far as im aware...those lower suspension arms are meant to make a world of a difference!!! He even said to us that he could take his hands off the steering wheel and floor it and the car will still go in a straight line!!!! :wink: :grin:

not too sure about other details though, i'll try and find out for u

* No, these are made for Ian to his spec.
* Reduced torque steer, camber adjustment / cost
* Around £220 for the fully rose jointed set. Made to order, not mass produced, hence the expense.

Ade - they look awfully similar to the ones sitting in my garage at the moment :smile:

JJ - I am not too sure where you heard that they are better than LSD (probably better than the standard rs-turbo LSD as it is quite naff when you have a Very High powered engine - over say 300bhp lets say) - You do realise I am sure, that there are many diffierent kinds of Diffs out there (road, rally, race and diffierent types).
I am ok as I have the best of both the worlds - Quaife Plate Diff and Modified front lower suspension arms coupled with a top notch custom Leda Suspension setup (fully hight and stiffnest adj ofcourse :wink: )

ps - JJ - Are you sure you have got enough power to create torque steer in the first place!? - lol :lol:
Do you have any idea what 178.8mph feels like in a Fiesta? 2000 lb of pressure per square inch per second pushing back on your face. It feels like god himself is trying to rip the skin off your skull while someone lands a 747 on your chest.

Any timescales regarding the completion of your NOS conversion?

Sunny - the bottle is in, the injector location is finalised, and I've got all the bits I need now, so I'll be finishing the NOS install on my week's holiday - 13-17th August!

As for LSDs, I'm sure Quaife will have something for me too :lol:

I suspect there will be a loss of ride comfort, but probably not as uncomfortable as torque steering into a tree! :lol:

Camber adjustment to compensate for incorrect camber on lowered cars, also alloys adjustements to geometry to be made for track use etc.

The adjustable fixing is prob as secure as the bolts that hold your rear drums on, hold the beam to the chassis etc.

Quantum - no, not from Chelmsford, just know Warren (yellow FRST van, having a T3 conversion at the moment) who takes his car to Sheppard's regularly.

Ade - thanks for the info.

I spoke to Ahmed today regarding the suspension arms:-
* Craig Sheppard's race car doesn't use modified suspension arms as I thought, since in the series he races in, they are illegal!
* Ahmed apparantly advised Ian on the design, to help him gain traction on the drag strip, though using the rose-jointed setup on the road for everyday use would be very harsh (in terms of ride) and cause the rose joints themselves to wear out much quicker (in Ahmed's opinion).

So, it begs the question, who's ordered a set and who will be the first to publish a "road test" report on here.

Come to think of it, Ade, what about a new section - Road Test posts, reporting pros/cons of any particular mod?!

These arm's won't fit a mk 2 and the company that make's them for Ian won't be able to mod the mk2 arms due to there design. Ian spent a lot of time having these arm's modded and the first set were done ages ago, like years!!! there is an awful lot more goes into them than you can see in the pics the parts are all manufactured to high tolerance spec's and they were tested on Ian's car first in which they made a huge improvement (and yes I did shat myself when it came on boost) it is true you can let go of the wheel and the car still goes straight I witnessed this at Brunters upto around 135 chasing Jamie from Jamsport. A lot of money??? try getting a pair of new arms then getting them modded for that money.

Tracking/camber is soo important...I had my soarer fully laser alighed for tracking and camber, front and rear the other day... can now floor it at take hads off wheel at 120-130 and she runsa steady as a rock....;D:grin::grin::grin:

i'd say they are worth that money!!!

now how about adjustable tracking/camber rear beam?

So are thease good upgrade for making more accurate steering? And how well they suit for every day use? How long thease will last, when they need to be changed, and how well thease joints resist corrosion?
