Nashy,

Best way to get more power out of a 1.0 is to use it to get you down a scrappys and buy a bigger engine.

For the 1.6s conversion, I will soon have the XR2 engine and box knocking about, although it needs a rebuild to be honest.

Have a search through the forums, as there are about three of us who have converted from an HCS (1.0, 1.1 or 1.3) engine to a CVH (1.4 ort 1.6).

Although...

I honestly recommend you tidy it up and sell it for a profit, and buy yourself a basically sound 1.6S or 2i instead, as the amount of heartache and money you will spend in the end is far greater than buying a ready made one.

Sorry to be a misery but I've just put the 2i 8v 1600 engine in mine - my 5th engine in 12 months :oooh:

As Al said, it does cost alot more to change an engine than to get the new car!!!

However, it does give u alot of mechanical experiance if you do change the engine yourself!!! - as well as pleasure to see all of your sceptical friends faces when it works after saying "it wont go in" or it'll never work" or "theres no way that u will be able to do that" bellieve me it's great!!!!! especially when i can point out that it's an escort engine!!! even though they are the same engine apart form the ignition system - they dont know that though

If you still want to do it read the post in the tuning section headed escort engine by beeman - has all of the details of how to do the 1.6 conversion there!

Hope this helps

dunno about you but I had more fun modifying the 1100 than any other engine yet, dosent matter if you screw up the ports just go down scrappie and get another.

i did a 1300, use flat top KA pistons, shape the ports a bit (i didnt do much dont know enough about it), front exhaust was a 1300cfi cat (nice and large) into a 2i 8v system - went well!!
