Mondeo servo upgrade

Problem or technical question?

Mondeo servo upgrade

Postby BOBFRST on Sat Jan 18, 2014 3:30 am

Looking to upgrade my brake system so was wondering as its now quite difficult to get the mk2 mondeo servo & master cylinder is the mk3 servo & master cylinder the same? I can get a mk3 easily from local breakers so was wondering if anyone had done this with the mk3 :D

I actually have a mk5 escort servo & master cylinder in my garage Mikey  but was thinking the mondeo one would be more suitable cos I'll be running st170 300mm fronts & focus rs rears so need more fluid capacity too. Also thinking of making a strengthening plate for the mountings on the servo, gud idea? :D

The escort one needs welding, as the rod that connects the brake bar to the servo/mc is too long and constantly pressurises te braking system NOT GOOD had this myself and locks the brakes on more and more as you drive, it either needs to be cut down and re welded or spacers put behind the servo, but be warned the amount of spacers needed to stop the pressurising happening leaves very little thread holding the servo on.. Much easier to use a mondeo servo, the escort m/c does fit with the mondeo servo and works ok. This is what I'm using currently but will be changing the m/c to a mondeo one for piece of mind

Getting the escort rod shortened aint a problem Russ its weither the mondeo mk3 servos rod is the same length as the fiesta & if the bolt patterns on the servo are the same as the mk1&2 mondeo for ease of fitment. Guess its gonna be a trial & error session if nobody can tell me lol :D
