Mondeo tdci st

Hi got this a while ago and thaught I'd do a bit of a thread bout it.

Image

Have done a few bits to it. Since I'v had hey she's had new disks and pads all round, ford badges for the wheels were they had been refurbed and not replaced, ford car matts, painted and fitted new jacking point covers and I made a decat for it at work which has made a nice difference. Maint thing thaugh is the paint was in a right state when I got it. Dont think it had been properly washed for years and was tar all over and really badly chipped. After alot of rubbing back and touching up its sooo much better. Needs a front end respray if I'm honest but that will just have to wait as its not urgent and its only the family car

Yea man they are awesome cars. They do have their issues but they make up for them in a big way. I wanted to get the estate but couldn't find one in my price range and I got this at a silly price :Q

Just failed MOT on

Nearside headlamp aim to high (I think this is rubbish as they are both the same height and usually nearside is higher on right hand drive cars) just a way for them to make money.

Handbrake not providing enaugh power - fixed

Nearside rear arb drop link balljoint gone (knew about this already) - replaced both sides knocking noise gone :)

Both rear indicators have lost their amber coating

Yea got both rear drop links for a £10er off ebay and the bulbs for £4 at the local autosave lol only thing I can't do which annoys me is the headlights. But I'v lowered the bean slightly on that side and I'm just going to ask them to check it and if it still needs adjustment then I'l pay them to sort it and pass the car.

This one does have a free retest just annoying that i'v got to pay them to set my headlights when alot of stations I'v bin to before just set them for free during the test. I think it should be included in the fee that they align the headlights correctly evertime the car is MOT'd if they need it at no extra cost. its not like it takes any effort at all especially once they have already lined up the machine to check them.

Suprised they didnt adjust the beam as part of the MOT, most places do, even if the bulb is in the wrong way up.

Looks nice tho :aviator:

Well got it through the mot no problems except that the [place I took it to decided to charge me £25 for the fudgekin retest!!!!

They were being funny with me from the start when they realised I was going to do the work myself. then tried to charge me £20 to allign a headlight so I got that done elsewere for £5.

Take my word for it McConechy's in elgin are a total bunch of rip off merchants!!!!!

Hmm, sorry to hear bad experience, these really are good motors though, have to agree. Funny, mine failed on a handbrake cable previously, pain in the bum to fit as you have to drop the exhaust and heatshield :S

I had mine mapped up, supposedly to 185bhp, as standard they make as much torque as a Mk2 Focus RS. Deffinately a good drive :D

Have you had any probs with injectors or EGR?

No touch wood lol.

I changed the handbrake cables in the winter as they got moiture in them and kept freezing solid. I just undo the exhaust heat shield and slide it forwards enaugh to get the the balance bar ect. Quite easy with the car up on ramps.

Did you have bluefin on yours then??

Ah kool how did you find it???

I did my cables in the garage. it was cold. I think minus 5 ish outside whilst I did it. it gets real bad up in scotland like lol.

First time it froze was at 7am when there was snow everywere. I pulled off the drive and didn't feel right then once I was at the bottom of the slope I was stuck lol. One side was on solid and I couldn't move the car from the middle of the street. Was just wheel spinning and everyone else on my street going to work had to use my drive to go around me. So imbarrasing!!!

Funny now I look back at it thaugh and it got me day off work!!!

haha, I think I did mine on a wet floor, cable had snapped and it had adjuted one side and one wheel was spinning free on the MOT rollers :o

The box was great, good extra power, how it should have been from the factory! I unplugged it in the end because I was constantly worried of cooking the injectors

Yea the front end it pretty bad for stone chips to be honest, which you can't see on the piccys but apart fromt hat its in great nick. I want to get a full front end respray done but no point really its not that noticable and it wouldn't change how she drives (which is perfect I might add)

Like I said it had a new engine at 63k too so thats a plus point about this motor.

Yes they have and quite badly to be totally honest with you. They were obviouslt not keyed up properly before they sprayed and there flaking quite badly. It doesn't even look as if they used primer just gone for the piant and you can see were theyve bin filled too. I'm going to do them properly at some point as I can't justify the price of a new set of diamond cuts.

Compared to my focus wheels I did, which are MINT they suck ass badly. Still look good atm thaugh from a distance. :Q

Well just had to bite the bullet and pay out £180 for a new auxilery drive belt kit including new crank pulley, tensioner, belt and idler pulleys

Oh well will make a nice change not to have that horrible drumming noise all the time and that horrible squeek every time i start her up.

Had a look last night and the belt was flapping around all over the place and has a nice little split in it and as I dont fancy braking down on the drive from the top of scotland to cornwall next week I think it needs changed lol.

Well, changed the pulleys and aux belt and horrible rumbling noise is gone and so id the horrible judder on startup what a result!!

Also thaugh whilst in the garage i'd take the egr valve off and gave it a clean out. Jesus that was a mess!!! all cleaned up and degreased and what a difference. Car somes on boost so much better and feels alot more responsive and powerfull. The valve must have been causing an issue it was that bad. I'm now thinking I will clean out the inlet manifold and just blank off the egr to stop it causing any more problems. In doing this I hope to gain a little mpg too and a little more response. At the end of the day i dont care about a little emissions and I think they are a total waste of time. id rather be burning clean air than the s**t that comes through that lol.
