MORE BHP ADVICE ?

Postby 95 Fiesta SI on Tue Feb 17, 2009 11:11 pm

Just wondered if anyone else could think of any mods & costs to increase BHP without a turbo conversion on my 2.0 Si. Currently has: Polished & Ported Head, Kent Fast Road Cams, Vernior Pulleys, Power Boost Valve, 4-2-1 Racing Manifold & Decat, 4" Powerflow Exhaust, Custom Samco K&N Induction Kit, Splitfire Leads & Plugs. Currently at 160BHP. :)

bas saph :carb set up

stupid idea in this day and age, for the price of carbs you can get throttle bodies, which will give higher power, more tractability, better fuel economy and the ability to have it remapped if you decide to upgrade anything else.

It all comes down to cost as at this stage, and it starts getting silly expensive, high comp pistons, big valve heads, throttle bodies, race cams etc.

Nitrous is about the best bang for buck for the stage your at TBH mate, but its not your only option

Previous owner was a BMW mechanic and did most of the work. Think he had the cams and boost value fine tuned at Hi-Tech motorsport where they did the dyno testing also.

NOS is good but if you use it all the time it will run out fast so its not something you will have all the time

A bolt on throttle bodies kit is you next step or a Turbo conversion

for a cheap conversion, with you friend doing all the work, a decent conversion will set you back 1k - 1.5k .

Of course it could cost you more, again, all depends on the spec you want :)
