The standard head gasket is ok to about 15psi, but if it hasn't ever been changed, then it would be best to do it.
Spark plugs - Standard ford, or NGK, set to 0.7mm as apposed to the standard frst 1mm gap.
Cheers

Carl,

Yeah, get the people to fit the chip and actuator, it should NOT take them long, watch out for labour costs.

Whats the mileage of your car ? and is it on the original head gasket ? original cam ?

cars done 67k - i dont know if the head gasket or cams have been replaced. the guy i bought the car off was obsessive though - hed replaced the rad, alloys, exhaust, steering wheel, gear knob, brakes, discs, pads & more all original ford RS parts. So it may have been done.

Dont guess about whats been done. Unless the previous owner tells you when and where it was done, then shows you a reciept, it might be true.

67k is pushing it for the original cam. I would recommend getting the head off, new head gasket, new cam and anything else needed for the head and then get it "chipped" and set-up.
