Re: Muz's Escort RS Turbo. 9 NOV. Back on all fours.
I got my injector sandwhich plate throught he post so could get on with modifying it to accept EFI injectors.
The ports when I started. Much too small for the injectors.
Then I drilled the ports out in 3 stages to accept the nozzle, seal and body of the injector at different stages to end up with this.
Sweet.
I still need to make a mount to hold the fuel rail securely but I'm happy with my handy work.
Then I couldn't do much so I desided to paint my block and sump.
Turbo and manifold.
And then my rocker cover.
I've gone for matt black, with polished ford logo and red motorsport logo.
Then with all of these freshly painted parts lying around I couldn't help a dry fit

Cheers guys. Waiting for my fancy new head that modified to use a focus RS Zetec headgasket and my gearbox to come back from CTS and I can pop her in. Took the sump off and checked the pistons and they are Accrilite, after someone said they looked like standard skimmed jobs and I got worried.
Yeah haven`t seen you since Ford Fair? I also hate to admit you were right as well. No wonder my car was running hot racing, I mean, FOLLOWING you to Silverstone. The pistons in the CVH bottom end were hanging on for dear life. Theres pitting in the middles and corners missing out of every piston
Whats up with the EsCos then? You`ll have o pop up the barn and take a look.
I`m hoping to have it done by the New Year. Theres not much left to do.

Yes Andy. Looking for some suitable steel tube as I`m going to have a weld in rear brace across the turrets with some seam welding.
Have you got the roof on yet? Send us the link and I`ll take a gander.

Re: Muz's Escort RS Turbo. 12 NOV. Custom Inlet + Painting
Cheers guys. Got my new head Yesterday. Its an MFI Stage 3 head. Perfect for me as the inlet I'm using is MFI based, so no need for an adaptor plate. Its got huge ports, Stainless oversized valves, and as it didnt come with a cam I've fitted it with my old Kent CVH34 and vernier. Not ideal but the cars costing way more than I budgeted so a new cam will have to wait
Cam doesn't seem to be in bad shape.
All built up.
Ports
Its also been modified so I can use a Zetec headgasket. Just so people can see what needs doing I've taken a few photos.
Here is the Zetec gasket on my old CVH head compared to the new modified head.
As you can see, the much beigger Zetec oil gallerys run off the end of the head.
And on this one, you can see just how much has been added to the head.
You can also see why the top oil gallerys need blocking off, as they go straight into the water gallerys.
My block though has 3 oilways blocked off, but not the last one, so I need to do it. Does anyone make brass bungs to do this?
Also when removing the sensor forn the back of the inlet it snapped off
Is this a Cosworth sensor or CVH turbo?
Also I've notced my FPR has had a hole drilled in it??? Any reason for this?

The inlet vaccum outlet is still attached. Its the outlet on top, above the whole.
Jay your probably right. I couldn`t see any grub screw underneith hence why I asked. I`ll have a closer look tonight.

FRSJON :which strangely is now going on a 2.1 s2 and i have to paint the rocker cover satin black
An Imposter!!!
Yeah done the carbon myself. Its only stick on carbon sheet. Real cabon fibre with 3M backing. Needs lots more laquer and then I can polish it.
I'm really hoping to have the engine in the bay Sunday.
My inlet set up looks very DIY compared to that jamsport item

Re: Muz's Escort RS Turbo. 23 NOV. NEW HEAD!
your inlet looks good mate... .. the only part supplied from jamsport is the alloy part i covered in carbon... the hassle i had to make it any where near good enough to used was unbelievable.. .. first off it was bowed ..
.the inlet was drilled for a s2 tb... .. and there are were no vacuum take off 's at all...
jamsport said it would bolt straight on a efi engine... ..the bloke who bought it new gave it to me for nothing..(cost £400 with charge pipe) cos there was no way it would fit... now he's BOUGHT it back...

Re: Muz's Escort RS Turbo. 23 NOV. NEW HEAD!
That looks some sort of shoddy
Mine is also drilled for a series 2 TB so I have to get it welded up. Also need to find some way of mounting the fuel rail.
All is well at CTS with the gearbox. Apparently it has a rare a close ratio gearset in it which the chap said would be usuful for them to have as they are hard to get hold of and did I want to swap it for a standard, more road friendly gearset free of charge....
...no thanks Top blokes at CTS though. Very helpful. They could have whipped it out without telling me and I'd never have known.
So will be interesting to see how this box performs. I'm told not to expect any speedscover 100MPH, but it'll get there plenty quick enough.

just quickly about the tb's... look how my one's mounted as the frst one wont sit on a flat surface...you might need to space it out like i have... nice one on the ratio's..hopefully some bloody quick 0-60 times...
