Re: Muz's Escort RS Turbo. 21-10. Smoothing started.
Mix up your filler with the hardener, put it in a spray can cap and just add thinners it till it looks right. I can tell by looking at it. Should be thin enough it will go into all the little holes and stick but not too thin that it runs everywhere hard to explain. Little experiementing and you'll see. Or just go buy some propper stopper, I'm tight.

Re: Muz's Escort RS Turbo. 21-10. Smoothing started.
Because I've got the Scooby to run about in Jon I can afford to take all my time all winter and spring with it and get it ready for the Bigger shows, Ford Fair, Classic Ford, Nationals etc. Every engine peice will be blasted and painted rather than just cleaned up like last time, and I really am going to do a proper job this time. If something doesn't fit I'll work out why, rather than getting the grinder out!
Sticking with a ZVH for now. Main factor is money. i just don't have budget to build a ZT right now. Also the spec I've got I don't see why 300BHP and 350LBS of tourque isn't a realistc figure, coupled with the close ratio straight cut box will make for a very quick car anyway.

definately going to be a high end escort when back on the road... im sure your power figures are easy enough to achieve with cossie management and your spec.. mate of mine has 310 pounds of torque from his and he's only on ofab..will it make central day at the pod in april?

I'm sure it will mate. Don't see why not. as soon as the bay is in paint we're away. That's the time consuming part. The rest is just big mechano

Re: Muz's Escort RS Turbo. 1-11-09 Sorted the front panel.
Realise I haven't updated this in a while! Copied and pasted from elsewhere.
The RS Turbo has been feeling a little neglected due to me spending so much time on the XR3.
I thought I'd cheer her up with a few gifts.
Kent Vernier, brand new turbo oil feed, new rear hunb with stud conversion and Brembo brackets. This means I can fit up my rear calipers ASAP
And also a new turbo. T34 .48 with 360 degree brearing and cut back blades.
Finally some progress!
(finally) got my order of gaskets through from Burton Power. Every outstanding gasket I need to re build the engine. Along with a Focus RS headgasket and genuine exhaust manifold gasket I've already got from Matt Lewis.
Also bought £100 worth of paint today from Halfords. Your money don't go far these days! The Silver and etch primer are missing as I've also been painting the head. The clever chaps will be able to work out what colour the Brembos are going
Basiclaly the colour schyme will be matt black on all engine bits, inlet, thermostat, rocker cover, strut brace, breather etc, NO CHROME! With Silver sump and head.
Picked up a CompBrake bias pedal box and some heat wrap from FITP. I've also just got to finalise a few details with Tony at 909sport.com and I will have my handbrake calipers to assist the Brembos at the rear.
The slave cylinder for the hydraulic clutch conversion. It's a Hyundai .065 item. I want the set up to look as factory as I can, and I think these Hyundai cylinders (as pointed out in Karlos's thread) do look pretty OEM compared with the universal ones from Rally Design etc. This will of course be cleaned up and receive a liberal coating of matt black.
And today I've painted the cylinder head. I thought it looked a little tatty and upon cleaning it up, it had some corrosion on it so decided to paint it.
It's been de-greased, 3 coats of etch primer and 3 top coats of Silver Smooth Hammerite.
I've got tomorrow and Saturday off work and working on the car, so I'm going to do as much painting as I can, Calipers, intercooler, engine bits and make a start fitting the Newman Cam to the head.
I've got the bug back BIG TIME!
Done some painting today.
Thermostat housing, slave cylinder, brake bar, oil cooler, intercooler, pahse sensor braket, ARB and gearbox mounts Matt Black
ARB mount satin black
Brembos yellow
The calipers still need a few good coats, as does the ARB mount but getting there.
Also popped down the AH Fabrications this morning and couldn't help having a header tank made up.
Looooads of new parts!
Lets start with the boring stuff;
New Seirra Alternator
New steering rack
A Mongoose Cosworth downpipe, ready for me to modify to fit the new turbo.
A Group A K&N
Painted up my rocker cover
Painted my Brembos finally. Just need the decals now and a new set of dust covers and nipples
Bright yellow-in'ell
Full set of SFS Black silicon hoses. Although I only need about 6 of them
Oooo and a tubular manifold
And the inner child in me couldn't help a little mock-up

Cheers Guys.
haha it amazes me that I built the XR3 for a few hundred quid and more people are interested in it than the RST! The Oddkidd stand will have a bit more colour soon If this isn't ready for Ford Fair I've decided I'm going to trailor it there.

Re: Muz's Escort RS Turbo. 15/06/10 BIG PARTS UPDATE
Picked up these little beasties today to sort the handbrake out. Actaully picked them up from X Power cars in Tenbury. Basically William Riley bought the MG Motorsports licence and with it, the MG SV supercar rights. Engines, shells, gearboxes etc. They are making the X Sport WRS in several guises, all fully carbon fibre bodied, but some with Rouse Supercharged 5.0 V8 engines producing nearly 700 BHP! So had a good nose around there, but didn't take any photos, phone battery died, but will be going back to will make sure I get some pics. Anyway, the calipers.

Re: Muz's Escort RS Turbo. 30/06/10 Brembo Handbrake Calipers
Well Sunday she went for paint. Shes in good hands with Harry being a good mate and being a Ford man himself.
He also owns a rather fruity Racing Puma some of you might have seen scorching around Combe on Saturday...
He took me out round the country roads round here and hell can't he drive it. Those Racing Pumas really do handle very very well.
Also had a few hours free yesterday so managed to build the engine.
The inlet, due to my sensors for the management meant that the boost gauge, fuel pressure reg and MAP sensor all shared the same take off, soemthing I wasn't happy with, so added 2 take offs on the rear, one for boost gauge and one for the MAP.
and built...
Much, much happier with the engine this time round.
And finally got the hang of home done crackle paint. I used a proper heat gun on it and its wrinkled up real nice and close. Not using it on too much. Just wanted a bit of a change from flat matt black on some of the management parts.
