Yeah the brackets are more than ample. They are the same thickness as the brackets for the front brackets. 4mm is pretty thick.

Are they welded to the Hub, or the main caliper bracket?

As it's a nice day and the car is grey with dust I decided to roll her outside and wash her down. The paint has come up lovely and deep and I haven't even polished it yet.

Did a few bits and pieces yesterday. Picked up my AH Fabrication header tank. Much nicer than a Bailey 8) Will be painted matt black after national Day.

Also got the gearbox in paint, Ford Sea Grey and got the engine and bits and bobs in ready for National Day. Looking almost like a car now. (although I have made a small chip on the inner wing with the gearbox getting the enigne in which will ahve to be touched up. :cry: )

And tucked up patently waiting for it's trip on Sunday.

Lots of little jobs needed doing before I could put the engine back in, like the brake and clutch lines etc, trail fit the loom so I know what needs lengthening or shortening then waiting for the gearbox to come back. Now I'm at a stage I can really crack on with it! Working a lot at the moment and training for the army hasn't helped.

The car looms basically finished. Just need to extend the drivers side headlight/side repeater wires and get a proper cable for the new starter motor loom, braid it and its done. Then got to braid the engine loom. Shouldn't be long now.

Made a good start on my loom today. Would have finished all of the Cosworth loom, but I can't find my Phase sensor! :wall: Without that I can't braid the Crank and Cam sensors and link it to the rest.

But what I have done.

Injector loom

Image

Links into a junction for ISCV, air temp sensor and water temp sensor on the back on the inlet plate.

Image

Note the thickish black braided wire there contains ALL the engine management wires and is all you can see in the bay except the crank and cam sensor wires as they need to go round the other side of the engine.. :king:

Goes underneath the brake servo and through here.

Image

They go through the inner wing; (wires haven't been taped up yet as without the phase sensor I don't know how long the wire runs will be and need to buy some bigger grommets as all mine are too small.)

Image

and into the car here in the passenger footwell.

Image

Wiring for the Ignition amp, Coil and MAP sensor come through this hole in the bulkhead;

Image

And come out here;

Image

Finally, the wiper motor and heater box wiring comes though the speedo drive hole and use the same grommet;

Image

Should have the lot finished Sunday including the car loom, headlights, horns etc.

Well it's moved on a bit. I've decided thats as I won't have much time to drive and enjoy it as a road car with my new job I'm turning it into a full on, road legal track car. :devil: :saythat:

Wirings almost finished and it almost looks like a car again. It still needs more paint in the arches etc, but it's a track car and they will be covered by arch liners so not too worried.

Got some nice new parts arrived for the car. A safety Devices 6 point cage with welded rear diagonal. (not this very cage, but the same, mines off for shotblasting)

Image

I'm going to look at welding it into the shell rather than bolting and welding the sections together, making it essentially a weld in cage, adding my own door bars, extra diagonal on the back to make an |-X-| shape with harness bars and welding in a rear strut brace which may link into the cage.

Also spotted these on eBay so had to have them (I know I said I would stop buying fancy, pointless stick on **** and spend the money getting it on the road but I couldn't help myself :lol: );

Image

Image

Only some crap small pics pulled form eBay as they haven't arrived yet but as soon as they do they'll be off to MP Autobodies for lacquer. Not sure whether to do them in a high gloss or matt lacquer though.... :?:
