Thanks guys. The hole is for an aluminium box which will hold the battery, and another fuse and relay board.

I'm in the process of writing a Fiesta Project Electrical Addendum. The current version already contains everything you need for the auto lights & wipers.

Just something I thought about earlier, Mark... You know how a lot of cars have the function on the indicator stalk where you can flick it up/down and it flashes the indicators 3 times for things like lane changes ect (I'm sure you know what I mean), are you putting that onto the fiesta at all?
I can't remember if you have or haven't said anything about it so I thought I would ask!

Thanks guys. I'm not sure if the Mk5 ever had that feature, but TBH I don't want it in this car. I want to retain as much direct control as possible, so I'll leave all behaviour changing toys in my daily and keep the controls in this a bit more pure.
There is a keyless entry version of the GEM available, which I'm trying to get hold of, but it's mega rare.

Amazing work as ever mark, dont know if iv missed it somewhere but what is happening with the engine recently? Is it all ready to be put into the bay? Or is it still not built? Also what intercooler set up will you be using mate?
Cheers

Keyless entry would be a nice mod to have. Good luck on trying to source that!
From what I have seen so far, it isn't possible to get a retrofit kit for comfort indicators on fords, so modifying them to work would be needed. Too much work to be playing around with for myself at the moment. Athough they aren't needed, it would be a cool mod to have at some point in the future.

Thanks Danny. The engine has been built for a while so I must go to Ian Howell's and take some photos to show it actually exists The only outstanding challenge is getting air conditioning, PAS, alternator and an oil system to work together, and for that Ian has enlisted one of the Pace Products engineers. Ultimately the engine side of things is really only ticking along until I've finished the suspension on the car.
I will be using a Garrett core with custom end tanks. The results of the Garrett cores have been amazing, I think Mark Shead now swears by them as they tend to liberate a significant amount of torque when compared to some of the cheaper cores. They also have minimal effect on water temp/rad cooling.

Cheers,I'll need it Unless it can be programmed in the GEM (I doubt it),I should imagine a kind of intermediate relay would be required. I wouldn't want to take that approach really.

Motorway crash instigator : i dont indicate on motorways usually anyway so wasted on me
I definitely didn't get the memo that told us all we should just not bother indicating. It's not like it's important to let all the vehicles in front, behind, and alongside us know what our intentions are, in order to prevent collisions, or anything The number of times I see cars blindly veer into a different lane, and cause a following car to swerve to avoid them, is usually in double figures in an hour of driving. I suppose you takes your chances...

CC doesn't affect the behaviour of the car's controls, and it has to be turned on anyway. The Hydraulic Clutch is the only thing I've added that does.

Rear Strut Brace
Previously during the project I had added reinforcement towers to the rear suspension turrets complete with captive fittings to mount a strut brace, and yesterday I finished fabricating the rear brace to bolt on.
I have made it in two sections so that it may be split in two, in order to allow the Sub enclosure to be removed easily.
Modification of Sub Enclosure
The sub enclosure is made fora standard Fiesta and wouldn't quite fit my car due to the suspension turret reinforcement towers, so a section of its rear had to be cut to provide the necessary clearance. The following two photos show the area removed and also the reinforcement tower which requires the clearance.
Looking inside the sub enclosure when its in position.
Next to the turret.
The enclosure had to be sealed again, so a wooden mould was made and screwed in place.
I then used Fibreglass to fill the mould.
Here's the first stage complete and the mould removed.
The second stage was to create a tunnel through the enclosure so that the whole thing could slide over the new strut brace but remain sealed. To achieve this I fabricated an Aluminium box with flanges at each end so it could be screwed into the enclosure.
Here's the tunnel in place. I used Fibreglass to secure the ends.
Completed.
The test fit confirms all is well. Next step is to cover the enclosure with black carpet.

Thanks mate. There's not a lot more to do to the interior now, so I'll soon be starting on the underside.

I have the Ford 'Mobility Kit' which will also live in the storage box:
The kit comprises a12v compressor and some tyre sealant

good stuff mate.
are you planning on insolating the box? i would imagine in winter months it will get so cold it would condensate inside the alloy box

Thanks mate.I hadn't thought about condensation to be honest. Definitely don't want that! I'll get hold of some more silver deadening and line the box.
Cheers
