The new reservoir arrived at Ford so I've fitted that along with a level sensor, the headlamp washer pump, and headlamp wash hose with a quick release connector close to the front bumper.
Image

This shot shows clearance with the front wing bolted on. I also still have access to the two bolts that secure the wing to the A pillar.
Image

Front and rear washer hoses were wrapped in PVC sheath and exit under the wheel arch.
Image

The filling tube passes through the inner wing and exits into the engine bay via the swaged hole I added earlier in the build. I will join this tube to a bespoke filler assembly mounted to the bulkhead.

It's not mate. I thought about routing a small coolant hose through it in a similar fashion to how Mercedes do it, but decided it was adding too many potential failure points.

yea best not i guess, besides i find its the jets that freeze up not thet bottle, so heating the bottle will still make a failed spray as it wont thaw the jets

good work :aviator:

Thanks guys. Suspension and underside is next, engine will be last of all.

I'm about to order some French parts (shock!) for underneath the front end. Itching to get on with that :D

car_photo_338011_25.jpg

I would like to use Ford parts, but the Focus RS Mk2 suspension is hideously heavy and the alloy Revoknuckle hasn't made it to the new Focus yet. Interestingly I actually had a long chat with the German Ford engineer responsible for Revoknuckle, and he actually developed it for the Mk1 FRS but bean counters put an end to it! I had a look at the Mk1 FRS knuckle and it was nice light alloy. He also developed an alloy version for the Mk2 FRS but project budget dictated iron brakes, and marketing dictated large wheels, which cost too much to make lightweight, so the end result were hub loads which dictated the need for a cast iron knuckle - shame!

I want lightweight suspension and low unsprung weight so the arms and knuckle must e alloy.

Is that to imply that going for a lightweight alloy caliper setup with bells and rotors would make an alloy revoknuckle setup feasible ?

Also find the miniscule amount of travel in the illustrated coil and damper setup to be fascinating, will be interested to hear how it copes on UK spec (s**t) roads :D

True. I'd love to figure out how to put Citroen C5 suspension on my fez for a comfortable ride. We have our air force to thank for rubbish French roads which forced them to make better suspension!

The standard Fiesta Steering wheel position is perfect for me but I found that the Recaro's have adjusted the seating position slightly, so to counter that I modified the steering wheel rake and reach to suit. This unfortunately caused one of the column UJs to foul on the Ka pedal box so I modified that too in order to provide additional clearance for the steering shaft.
Image

Seas Lotus Sub mounted and a protected by a metal grille. I wired up the Sub using Van Damme 2 x 4.5mm cable inside the enclosure.
Image

Back in the boot, I added a stainless stud and custom bracket to the base of the new battery box.
Image

The slots in the alloy bracket suit locating lugs on the fuse box I've chosen, which is pictured here minus fuses and the bus bars which re-plated to freshen them up. I also made a start on wiring up the power distribution.
Image

This is where I am currently, the old 54AH battery is just for mock up purposes and will be replaced by a 90AH version. I'm waiting for four fused relays and sockets to turn up so I can start on the fuel pump circuits, but once they arrive I will make a bracket to mount them in the space behind the new fuse box.
Image

I will have a really interesting update in two weeks' time.

Jay, Not yet mate. I ran out of the silver stuff when doing the boot floor, so I've got to order some more. I have left a space around the fuse box so that I can go back and add the insulation when it arrives :)

Jony, that is the original Si battery. It's probably dead now. I just used it to help mock up.

Really like the pace that this is moving at now!

This is a project that's definitely been thought about. Some people just seem to think of something, add it, and then have to remove it so they can do something else. Everything's been done in a certain order with a purpose. Love it! :D
