Amazing work, I love how perfect everything looks! The bonded screen looks so much more modern
My Popular Plus has the same sound deadening behind the dash - I assumed all MK3s and 3.5s did! I don't think it helps much on mine

Mark, re your headlight logic switch, since the mods you're making to the right hand wiper of the switch are to make it stay connected in all three positions, why not short it out? A wire link on the board between the solder joints at the top for C and E would hardwire 'dip beam trigger' to '+ve when on dip', so the dip element would always be live when the headlight switch on the end of the stalk was on, which is what your trace mod for that side (in pink) achieves. Correct me if I'm wrong.

that would work, but it would be a link on D & E not C & E as you mentioned... but your idea would make for a better connection and would eliminate the worry of wear on the join ideas previously suggested...

Re: MWSTEWART | 500+ BHP Project | Rebuild 23/02
lol AW0L, it is C and E I was talking about, D isn't connected to the solder joints, I meant a bridge between the two last blobs of solder on the bottom row, C/F and E (Contact points C, E and F would then all be connected). If you follow the traces, in its unmodded condition, D connects to a hole in the board

AW0L :hey Marc, any updates to grace us with, we are all dying for more....
Thanks guys.
I don't have anything worthwhile to add at the moment as I don't want to make the post any more OTT than it already is in terms of detail I'm slowly working through the shell replacing every single last plastic clip and metal fastening, and the vibration damping material is being applied to all surfaces. I'm also wiring up auto lights and wipers from a Mk3 Mondeo.
I'll provide an update after the 23rd when I have the interior back from Aldridge.

Re: MWSTEWART | 500+ BHP Project | Rebuild 23/02
Now that the vibration damping process is well under way the sound deadening work can start. I'm using 'Luxury Liner Pro' made by Second Skin, it is a Mass Loaded Vinyl product that comprises a layer of foam to absorb the various frequencies and a dense Vinyl layer to decouple the foam layer and reflect sound back through the various deadening materials. The egg carton type material in the background is a soft foam product which sticks behind trim to alleviate vibrations and trim rattles.
The rear quarter areas are now vibration damped and sound deadened.
O/S door vibration damped and sound deadened. Thanks to my Dad again for giving up a lot of his time to help with this stage.
Now the O/S sound work was finished I could build up the rest of the door. The lock barrel and central/deadlocking motor was first.
New door pins, check strap and door ajar switch fitted with a stainless screw.
New window motor/regular fitted.
I have these bags of closed cell foam made from recycled car parts, which are used to fill voids in the shell to further reduce noise and drone.
Some trim fastenings in the car make use of spire clips which slot into punched rectangular holes in the shell, and then the screw passes through a circular punched hole. The photos probably make more sense than my explanation! The fastenings aren't great as they mean only around 1mm of material is available for the screw to grip, and so to improve on this I have removed the spire clips altogether and fitted M5 Rivnuts in the circular hole.
I'm replacing the standard speaker cable with Van Damme Blue Studio Grade cable, and I've chosen Audison Sonus RCA interconnects. Both cables have a good reputation for high sound quality.
New Wiper arms and Wipers fitted. I'll swap to Bosch Aerotwin blades later on.
I've decided to get another rear bumper painted, this time one with parking sensor holes and a modified exhaust cut out area.I've cut the exhaust area from a scrap bumper which will be used to extend the length of mine so that I can fit a twin tail pipes that are similar in size to the S3 8P.

Re: MWSTEWART | 500+ BHP Project | Rebuild 13/03
Thanks Dave and Edd!
Thanks mate! I'm trying to keep the exterior pretty standard but I have thought about one for the bumper recess , but it will depend on how the underbody airflow management works out. I need to have a play around once the Focus subframe is in
Window regulators and motors were from Ford. Left side is FINIS 1049971 £174.56, right side is 1049970 £174.56.
Cheers Weight gain is actually a very positive part of my build and something that will improve performance, which is I know contrary to popular belief! The Mk3 is in relative terms a very light car to begin but cricually it also lacks any significat aerodynamic downforce, so when the power starts to creep up much above 250, then traction and grip can really start to suffer and the original benefit of increasing the power can quickly become a negative. This is compounded if more weight is taken out! The larger engined Mk3's are also more unbalanced due to the heavier engines, and that extra nose weight is apparent when comparing a Zetec car to a HCS car. The extra weight in my car is low down in the shell which will increase tyre loading without adversely affecting the handling, and the extra at the rear will go towards addressing the imbalance. There will be a full corner weighting and geo session once I'm done My goal is to create a car that can sustain speed.
If you've got the time then this interview with the Nissan GTR designer is worth a watch, and explains why weight is so important for performance: very http://www.pistonheads.com/doc.asp?c=52&i=20819
