Fit them predominantly down the starboard side, for European harbour docking. Obviously, the lights on the starboard side will be green, port lights must be red. Depending on the depth you plan to dive to, the toughened glass lenses will need to be at least 14mm thick for shallow waters (up to 30 fathoms), but add 1mm of lens thickness for every 10 fathoms after that. All light cavities must either be vacuum sealed, or equalised during diving and surfacing, to prevent pressure-related glass fracture. Rubicon sealant to be used on all mounting holes.

Cabin Filter
I found an activated charcoal filter is available so I ordered one and swapped it for the standard filter I'd already fitted.


Passenger Door
I've now deadened the passenger door and fitted the speakers.


I bought a product called 'Boom Mat' made by DEI. It's a closed cell foam shroud for a speaker. I cut one in half and placed it on the top edge of the speakers to form waterproof cover.

Alcantara Steering Wheel & Handbrake Lever
I had the steering wheel and Focus handbrake lever trimmed in Alcantara. I supplied a leather sample so that the trimmer could match my seats.

Auto Lights/Wipers Module
I have integrated the module wiring into the main Fiesta loom and maintained the correct colour scheme for the year of manufacture. I chose the interior fuse box as the exit point for the wires and the location of the auto module, but I wanted to ensure two things: 1) The auto system was easily disabled leaving wipers and lights in their standard configuration, and 2) I wasn't joining Mondeo specific wiring colours to Fiesta specific wiring colours. To meet these requirements I used ISO head unit connectors, which given their ubiquity,were actually pretty hard to locate in unassembled form.

Here's the Mondeo module and section of loom, together with the male ISO plugs.


The female plugs attached to the Fiesta loom. Being pedantic, I wired up the black power plug using the ISO convention for power and earth pins. I have a document which covers all the electrical changes, and when the car is complete I will leave a copy in the glovebox for reference purposes.


I chose to mount the auto module on top of the interior electronics control module, so I disassembled it in order to add two mounting studs.


I just used M5 nuts and bolts for this, and applied anti rattle foam to the back of the Mondeo module to prevent any noises.


Auto module mounted and Mondeo fly loom complete with new female ISO connectors.


Fuse box and control module mounted.


Fuse box cover trim in place.


O/S Kick Panel / Sill Trim and Door Seal
New Ford sill trim lined with Luxury Liner Pro and Silent Coat Absorber 15.


I used a Dremel to create an aperture to mount the foot well lights that I've already pre-wired.


I've applied Felt Tape to any areas of trim that overlap.


New Ford door seal to go on. I've smeared Silicon Grease on the door aperture lip to prevent the usual Fiesta door aperture rust.


Trim and seal in place.


Mk3 Focus Windscreen and Headlamp Washer Tank
I looked elsewhere for a screen wash tank,predominantly because I want to liberate the space in front of the N/S wheel arch to house a large airbox. I also wanted something off the shelf that had provision for a headlamp washer pump, so I settled on a Mk3 Focus tank which can sit inside the upper wheel arch.

I picked up a second hand Focus tank for mock up, a headlamp washer system from a Ford Scorpio (the model didn't matter as the headlamp washer pump is the same for pretty much every car model from the 90's to date). I also noticed that Mk3 Focus models equipped with headlamp wash have an extra tank to increase capacity, so I got a new one of those to see if I can use it in the Fiesta.


I used cable ties to secure the Focus tank, and then fitted the wheel arch liner and the wing in order to determine what space I had to play with. It turned out that the front section of the Focus tank sat very close to the wing, and this I wasn't comfortable with as if something were to knock the wing, rather than flex it would likely leave a crease mark in the metal at the point of contact with the screen wash tank behind. I removed a section from the Focus tank and glued it back together, leaving a slimmer profile.



After I determined a suitable position for the tank, I turned to the wiring. The standard Fiesta wiring has only a side repeater on the wing, whereas I now had to accommodate a screen wash pump,a headlamp wash pump, a level sensor in addition. In order to fit the wiring through the bodywork I used a hole punch and then made weatherproof by using larger diameter grommet on the wiring loom.


Here's the new loom and grommet in place. The silver part in the bottom of the photo is one of the two new brackets I made to secure the Focus tank.

I sprayed the tank black to make it look neater.


The original Focus filler hole was blanked off and relocated to suit the Fiesta.


At this point I actually decided to ditch the modified Focus tank, and so I ordered a new one. I'm going to use heat to manipulate the new tank into the shape I need, because I decided had less leakage risk than my glued version.

Boot Trimming
I have my Dad to thank for the following work.

First, some 6mm MDF was used to create a solid base base over the sound deadening. It was cut around the new boot floor aperture.


The pieces were trimmed with carpet.


A perfect fit.


Next I could mock up the positions of the amplifiers and crossovers in order to figure out the best way to build a false floor over the top of them, which is something I wanted in order to retain enough usable boot space for some weekend bags. The sub enclosure is a 'Stealth Box' which is a really well made enclosure that is moulded to fit the contours of the car and minimise intrusion into the load area. I had already ripped off the grey carpet in order to make some modifications to the reverse of the enclosure so that it fitted better against my custom suspension turrets. The sub enclosure will be covered at a later date.


Dad started on a false floor based on 10mm Ply.



The test fit.


I sprayed the underside in black paint,and then Dad covered the top side in black carpet.


Perfect! Plenty of usable boot space.
