Not at that stage yet. I've been held up for over a year due to the oil pump, but that's now sorted. Dyno within the next few months:)

This all started well over a year ago...I had an original order with Pace in 2011 and they completely failed to deliver twice , so I gave up with them and one of their ex engineers got the job instead. Burton got the first one because they will be retailing my project as a kit going forward (OPi brand I think). My (very unusual ) requirements were this had to work with A/C and PAS, hence that is my A/C pump and sump in the photo.
I was expecting the kit before the summer, but c'est la vie - Ian knew I wasn't in a rush.

Just spoke to Mark at M K Motorsport and the parts will be ready for collection next Friday. My coilovers have also arrived which is good.

pictures of said coilovers mark?
really liking how this is moving along. but i thought to myself before... 'i wonder how long it would take if you didn't have to work or didn't have any other commitments'... so Mark, how long do you reckon it would've taken you if that were the case?

I'll post some next Friday when the suspension goes on
In terms of time, I'm not sure, because I've been held up over a year in total by suppliers. If all went to plan I'd say a year full-time should cover it.

Performance: KW are often the choice of many teams competing in top tier motorsport like WRC, Touring cars, and GT3. The Variant 3 line is well respected in the aftermarket and are often fitted to already competent cars like Porsche, M series etc.
Avo and Gaz are budget brands in comparison.

Ahh, no. It's easy to overlook suspension and think a set of coilovers is just like any other, but the difference quality suspension can make is huge. Even the variant 3's are cheap/simplistic compared to the more track focused stuff that can cost upwards of £5k

Re: MWSTEWART | 500+ BHP Project | Cruise Control Module 23/11
Jon, The pumps are custom made. Ian is going to speak to Dan today and get a price.
Focus WRC CGI Block
I couldn’t resist this when it came up for sale. A brand new Focus WRC engine block. The WRC blocks were cast from Compacted Graphite Iron (CGI) which has up to 75% increased tensile strength compared to the regular grey iron production block, and hence is used in WRC to handle the increased cylinder pressures and particular machining requirements. For those interested its properties are described here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compacted_graphite_ir...
I don’t need actually need the CGi block because the Zetec block has been proven many times at my target power level, what I do want it for is to address two of my key non functional requirements 1) reliability and 2) reduction in NVH where possible. The increased stiffness should contribute to improved crankshaft and head location thus improve bearing life and headgasket life respectively, and more important to me, it should also help create a ‘sweeter’ engine more in line with the 1.6 Zetec-E which has more material between the bores than the 2.0.

I got the block from eBay. Keep an eye out as this is the second in the past year. The Burton blocks were overpriced IMO.

Those were the days I remember making my way through lists of telephone numbers, trying to locate good parts.

It is incredibly tempting, but sadly I think I'd ruin the car if I took the power any higher. I've no doubt that I could have gone beyond 600bhp and spent less than I am doing, but the extra is going into components that will make the engine really crisp, responsive and well balanced.
I may be starting again with the bottom end though in persuit of more response; I've asked Ian to look at the IKE billet steel cranks with a view to reducing the stroke and overboring the CGI block slightly to retain 2.0. This would change the characteristics of the engine by making it much sweeter and more responsive.
If I were to do that my current (brand new) engine would be for sale.

Cheers, but I suspect it's just a steel copy of a standard crank? I'm looking at a short stroke version.
