Not too sure of what is exactely involved - i'll get details for u tonight. but just a word of warning - make sure u DEFINATELY uprate the brakes and suspension as well!!! A m8 has turbo'd his escort van - now pushing 195bhp @ the flywheel and is a real rocket!! and trust me, theres no way the standard brakes will be upto the job!! especially at speed! (well, so he says! and i wouldnt doubt him one little bit!)

and yeah u can put stuff from the RS, XR and Cossie onto ur van! bet that made u !!!!

bassboy

The brake calipers *are* a straight swap, but make sure you swap the shocks from a 2i/turbo over as well - they will make a helluva difference, believe me!

Ha! The sooner you loose the van shocks the better! (whats to say you haven't already!!) At the Guildford cruise I was runin round the "track" in mine, half the speed of anyone else! I was in two wheels. They told me after the front wheel only lifterd up after the rear wheel was well over a foot of the ground!!!
Puma do a 60mm drop with dampers for about £190, ones for an XR21 will fit right people?
my only problem then it the wieghty Diesel lump, then theres the smell the noise the....I'll shut up!

if you haven't got fuel injection, you'll need the tank, pump etc.
i don't know too much about it myself but you're bound too have problems with wiring looms etc.
as long as you get the complete engine and loom, and you're handy with a spanner, i'm sure you could manage it.

as for the brakes, the only difference is that the base models use solid discs and the 2i jobbies are ventilated. this means you can swap the discs, but they are wider so you'll need the caliper aswell (i think you can also get spacer plates?)

wheel fitments are all the same
AW well good luck! I'm after the same sort of thing, I reckon the best way of doing it is to buy a scrap, but as complete as possible XR2i, or RST, and completely swap round. Pop out windows? for the back? does that not defeat the point of a van?

easiest motor to bung in would probably be the 1600 CVH from a mk2 XR2 or the mk3 1.6S, as this is the biggest they did still on carbs (no fuel injection) and goes in no bother. I've done this a couple of times into a mk3 fiesta. Got to watch the radiator is different and theres always fiddly things like throttle cable, wiring and engine mounts however nothing too technical.
Make sure you uprate the brakes and suspension too if the van hasnt got ventilated front discs and if I were you I would get a quote for insurance BEFORE you do the conversion
