My 1.9 205gti road rally car
Bought another car the other week with my brother to start road rallying with.Bought off ebay with quite a few bits:
New OMP roll cage
New Sparco Evo seats
New TRS Harnesses
New brakes front and rear including cables
Sump guard
Cibie Super Oscars.
Bought some new GP'N Challenge Spec Billies and some Pug 405 GTX(Speedline) alloys, as they are supposed to be very strong, and ordering some Yokohama A035 gravel tyres next week. Then just need to run brake/fuel lines inside and get a tank guard and a few more bits and bats and we're away

Re: My 1.9 205gti road rally car
Crikey it's been a while since I've seen one of them!
Used to walk past a G-plate one every day on the way to school in about 1992 and promised myself I'd own one some day!
Lovely car, a true retro hot-hatch

I worked for the son's Ken and Simon about 10 years ago at the (track cars) race preparation centre and at the time owned a road going Grp A monster

Not got the engine lying around have you?lol
Going to take it upto L.A.D Motorsport and if they say its knackered,i will probably get a new one.
Future plans are GP A solid rear beam mounts, quick rack and maybe a 4.4 cwp but they are £500 new

Re: My 1.9 205gti road rally car
Awesome project you got here Matt, i don't have any pug bits i let everything as a job lot go with the car when i got rid.
The car i had was a 1988 F plate metallic grey and gun metal grey 1.9 wheels, stripped and bolt caged, the engine in mine came from the mallard steel 205 race car, Grp A SB 8v on twin 52's - they replaced theirs with a 16v Grp A engine on luminition TB's which produced a bag of tunable power.
Reminising over this now Matt, my next project might be an old pug to raz around the lakes in

Your not allowed twin carbs(because of noise),BUT you can fit a MI 16 engine and mod it,hmmmmmmm

16v is a very good option to release more power but it cost slightly more, a standard 16v engine in a 205 your looking at 160 at the fly, after porting and cam/pully's, proper exhaust and a good set-up your looking at reliable 180 all day Get it done Matt

If it's allowed why not using an hid conversion kit on the hella's???? I installed one on a friend's 206 for the main beams and they made a lot o difference.

Re: My 1.9 205gti road rally car
Bit of an update on this, nothing much has happened because of getting on the property ladder and doing a full house up!
New engine is an absolute flier and have also fitted a Tran-X plated lsd which is the best mod so far.
Just purchased a Safety devices C44 challenge roll cage so need to grind the old omp plates out and weld the new cage plates in and fit it.Then Corsa EPS is the way to go nowadays for pas, will have a nob on the dash to adjust the weight.Thatll keep me busy for a while. Will try and get some pics too
