My 16v 2i thread :-)
Ok, have had this a couple of months now, and not really done much apart from today, had it lowered, changed the steering wheel and emptied the boot, which was probably carrying about 60kg of "toot" lol
Had a Magnex backbox put on yesterday, sounds good but the guy who did it cut out the centre box too so I have lost a few ponies due to loss of back pressure, but I will get this sorted:
Have had a bit of bodywork done, a few weeks ago, which was to have a rust area cut from the rear panel as shown in the next few pics.
Before:
After - when I have one of the sides sorted, the plate that has been welded and primed will be blown in as well:
Here's a few before the 40mm drop today, the boot is still loaded with crap so lower than it actually is lol:
And after:
No

Re: My 16v 2i thread :-)
Changed this:
For this:
And a couple to show the damage I inherited on driver side, the bubbling on the filler cap area, and a spot of rust on the tailgate:
Those are the areas I really want to sort once I can get the cash together, apart from that pretty clean really, but, being a Mk3, there are a few bits here, there and everywhere lol
And, I know it's dirty, but will give it a clean soon and post more pics, and will show the true height at the rear as well

Off ebay mate, from a guy who bought it off a lady owner who had driven it since new. He gave her sod all for it but then he didn't make much out of me either lol
Paid £486, so all in all I'm well happy with it, and give me something to do lol

oh i see,
when i was looking at it, the bloke didnt want to tell me anything about it, so i got on the net and looked for one of them companies that you see the adverts on the tele about texting the reg number and you get 3 texts back telling you the history. i told the bloke it was a write off and that he should tell people in the for sale ad it is a write off, but he didnt bother. id definantly get it checked tho.
what are the plans for it? track car?

Just did a check on the DVLA site and the following came up:
The enquiry is complete

If you think that the details on the vehicle record are incorrect please write to:

Re: My 16v 2i thread :-)
Plans are for more power, and may ditch the ideas of upgrading 'cos my mate is breaking the white 2i in the pics, and I am probaly gonna have the lump out of that. Went out in it today and it was scary fast as he has had it totally stripped out lol He said it's running approx 165bhp, which in a lighter car like his is great
Obviously needs better brakes which I have got and will be going on soon, and also want the bodywork sorted, and that's about it.
Well, for now........................lol

Hi, and thank you
The filler area looks a lot worse than it is, the guy who did the rear panel has given that a good check and it's only the outer layer so has no gone through thankfully
Will wash it this weekend and get some more pics on here.
Cheers again,
Steve.

Yeah, whoever did that did a pretty good job of denting that AND the rear quarter lol
The guy who is doing the bodywork is really good, and only charged me £30 for the plate he put it.
Gonna be having me mates 2lt lump in couple of weeks

Re: My 16v 2i thread :-)
Yeah it is a good price
Ok, I have now decided that I am having the engine from the white Fez as in the pics above
Will be fitting it over 2 days during the week and hope to get it on the rollers at some point over the next few week to see what the output is, though it's estimated at roughly 165bhp.
It's a 2 litre Mondeo lump with a an RS500 Cossie Pipercross induction cone, a ported, polished and knife edged 2 litre throttle body as well as a ported and polished 2 litre MAF.
Was an auto before my mate got it, and had only done 56,000 and not many more since.
Will get pics as we do it and update this at some point

Re: My 16v 2i thread :-)
escort gti wheels would suit that the si wheels look too small for the boykit imo but gti wheels would look . but for a mk3 that looks really clean apart from the drivers side it will look mint when all the bodywork is done

Re: My 16v 2i thread :-)
Well, took my engine out today and man what a bloody greasy mess lol
I didn't take any pics 'cos my hands were such a mess but I guess you have all seen engines come out before, even dirty, messy ones lol
We had some issues with nuts and bolts not undoing and this did put us back a bit but it will all be done soon.
The new one is now connected to my gearbox, has a new clutch, and is ready to go in tomorrow

Re: My 16v 2i thread :-)
Well, the new engine is in and running, though did have a couple of problems but all ok now.
The Ported and polished MAF won't go on as the induction pipe is too small so me mate is gonna find the one that came with the RS500 cone, as without that I can't fit the cone either. May have to relocate the battery to the boot, or use a smaller cone. Are these really worth it thgough? I have put a brand new OMP sports panel filter so would that be better?
A bit down on the power I was expecting, but that will get sorted. The inlet manifold that was on it in my mate's car was a plastic one that is a different design to the normal 2i one but he said it makes the idle very erratic, so he suggested using the the one I have off a 1.8 3i, which I will get ported and polished.
Not really booted it yet as being careful but seems good now
