update here we finally got the engine bay done minus laquer which should be done this weekend :) we had a few problems with paint reactions but we sorted it in the end

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

no rust! yay!

we also started work on removing the rear axle which turn out to be a rite pain as we had to cut one of the 2 main bolts off

and i have full undersealed the car under all arches and underneath :)

Image

fitted new rear wheel bearings into new drums

Image

as we as track rod ends

Image

and new rear brake cylinders onto newer axle

Image

but then we had some problems with the poly bushed axle as the bushes are a lot wider than standard ford ones so we haven't got the axle in place but should get it sorted before xmas hopfully :)

slight update here, i haven't done much to the si recently 2 be honest ive done more to the mk2 xr2 rep aka my runabout car

well the engine bay has now been laquered and it has come up very well so i'm pleased :)

heres a few pics

Image

Image

Image

Image

also it has front suspension back on it and 2 wheels

should be getting the poly bushed axle completed and all new brakes all bolted up and bled at the weekend :)

and all the wiring 2.0 ecu and engine mounts will be back in place over the next couple of weeks :)

heres a pic of were i have undersealed on the inside on the new wings and slam panel to help prevent rust in the future as the old wings were only 2 years old were scabby on the inside

ive got another update on the progress of my si and i have also done a few lil mods to mk2 runabout car as well

finally got most of the engine bay stuff back in wiper heater box engine mounts etc etc

painted steering rack as well
and fitted new lights for the moment

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

starting to look more like a car now

front suspension is all back on

Image

rear axle still not complete yet hoping to get it sorted within next few weeks so i can move the car over in the garage to it ready for painting the whole car eventually

Image

some new goodies for the engine bay etc rst under bonnet vents escort mk6 chrome heat sheild bonnet stay clip and new ford badges for once car is sprayed 8-)

Image

also got bottom end gasket set for my 2.0 so every gasket will be changed before it is to be dropped in :)

Image

also put on 2 pairs of leather rickbrook harness pads i'm really pleased with the quailty of them :)

Image

and bought another rickbrook gearknob with scrub screws this time

Image

and the mk2 ive got a bit of maintence done to it tappets etc its silent.... for now  and new thermostat and anti freeze so now has great heaters :)

also got a peco backbox from a member on here for the mk2 doesn't sounds any louder i mainly bought it for the reason that the exhaust would sit like a real xr2 (under rear fog light)

Image

also renualt clio rear wiper arm

Image

random pic

Image

and i could resist any more i had to get a sound system put it...only a cheap one but sounds pretty good, mutant 10 inch sub and amp with some kenwood 6x9's, mainly just miss the bass of what i got in the si :) also got a new jvc headunit as well

Image

thats it for now :)

another update here :)

i can finally get the si out of the garage!

got a lot of work done over the weekend so car is now pretty much ready for my 2.0 to be put it :) :) :)

finally fitted the poly bushed axle
fitted new shoes
new cylinders
new drums and wheel bearings fitted
stainless steel goodrich braided hoses
flushed out and bled brake system
trimmed front arches (so engine can go in due to 60mm drop)
bolted rear suspension back toether
fitted new fuel filter ready for engine
put power steering cooler back on
cleaned heat sheilds underneath car back to silver
gave the car a good clean as well

heres the pics

axle

Image

Image

clean heat shields

Image

Image

Image

as i can get the car out of the garage in the day light better pics of my new rickbrook leather harness pads

Image

gave the car another hoover as well

Image

pic of car during clean, as the car was dusty from having the engine bay sprayed back in december

Image

to save room in the garage i put my spare wheel and tray in place....its not fully tightened yet as i can't get access to the inside of the boot as i had the boot delocked a few years back and the subs are in the way to get in2 the boot from inside the car, so once its running again i will tighten it back up :)

Image

back in the garage after clean

Image

Image

engine is hopfully going in next weekend once new gaskets etc have been fitted :)

some new parts

Image

i'm getting all excited now! :)

:) the 2.0 is in

over the weekend my mate james took apart my 1.6 engine and my 2.0 and swap everything over for the 2.0 conversion as well as new water pump, headgasket, head bolts sump and pick up pipe gaskets and cam cover etc and fitted the 2.0 in to my si but we just ran out of time as sunday, doesn't need much now to do now to get it ready to start up, as its like 95% there :) but we are going to sort that out in around 2 weeks time :)
