My 7 day trackcar project, XR2i 16v, engine mods
Well, seeing as my other track car is still waiting for an engine, (18months now )
I was missing the track day scene badly so around 3 weeks ago I bought a XR2i 16v off of ebay
It came to me with RS2k Wheels
Partially stripped out,
2months tax and 9 months MOT for £500.
A little tatty around the rear arches but fairly solid underneath.
For the last 7 days I have been prepping it for RS Combe on Saturday.
No before pictures, but this is the result now
What I have done,
Best mod is the B&M quickshift
Euro rears
Fitted Cosworth 4x4 Front caliper and grooved discs,
New rear shoes,
2x new brake lines at front,
DOT 5.1 brake fluid,
New drop links,
New track rod ends,
Pro Race 1.2 Alloys and R888 tyres,
Refurbed Gaz coilovers,
Polycarb windows,
OMP 3" Harness,
Weld in rear strut brace
Battery in the rear boot area,
K&N filter,
Oil and filter change,
New cambelt, Aux. belt and Water pump,
Morettes
Carbon bonnet
Gutted front and rear bumpers,
Cut front and rear panels out behind bumpers,
Removed most of the interior (dash still needs trimming down)
Sound proofing removed,
Trimmed arches to accept the wheels,
Longer wheel studs,
Powerflow s/s exhaust (no cat)
Powdercoated rocker cover
Washed it
If I get time tomorrow I'm gonna fit the lauch control
All the bits (except oil/antifreeze) I had lying around spare

Re: My 7 day trackcar project, XR2i 16v
Cheers guys, 7x 10hr days has taken some effort but its ready for Saturday now.
Jay, I was gonna cut the doors down like my other one, but then realised I didn't have a cage in with the door bars so left it for a little bit more safety
I've of course ditched the electric window and central locking motors
The engine is really sound (famous last words ),
I'm gonna spec it up to 130bhp before the next track day, but as you can all imagine time was against me.
Probably ditch the heater, sunroof, most of the dash before the next day as well
Oh, and one photo I forgot to add earlier
its of all the stuff I've removed over the last week (not the garage door )

Bit dirty for your standards Shaun...
Looks great, it's something i really wanted to do for Action Day in Sept but nobody will buy my runaround!
Let me know when you want to sell it (although i'm sure you will rob most of the good bits back off it!)

Looking good Shaun. I think this is the plan for the XR3 when the RST is ready, Cosworth brakes, 2.0 Zetec (which I cunningly already have ) and abuse it without worrying about damaging it like I would with the RST (I'm sure you feel the same way about the FRS)

This one is having very little thrown at it mate, just spec it up to 130 bhp and enjoy.
I'm deffo starting on the other one within 2 weeks, so look out for updates on that.
Once that one is finished I'll take the good bits back off this one and sell it on.
Thanks for the comments guys, I'll stick that downpipe on ebay then

Cheers fella,
I did 8 sessions, only problem was dodgey ignition leads, so bought some from Merlin Motorsport for £61 , all was good after that though
It needs more power now.
