Max M4X WW :What intercooler u using babe?
I'm being boring and putting the 1.6 TDCi intercooler on hun. I'm not interested in getting silly with this engine at all. There is no IAT sensor that I've seen (I've just seen a pic of the 1.6 TDCi engine bay and there appears to be an IAT sensor present, post-intercooler), so fuelling won't be increased automatically by the ECU when it sees my intake temps drop by 40-50C, meaning I won't make the gains I "should", since this engine was never meant to be chargecooled.
All I can do is turn up the gain on my tuning box as high as possible without it cutting out to get as much fuel through it as possible to work with the cooler charge temps and increased boost pressure, since the air density will go up a vast amount with those two mods (I haven't calculated how much yet, but will). Combined with the air filter that I'm expecting tomorrow, I believe it'll crack the 90bhp mark, with over 160lbft to support it.

I know what you mean mate. I am thiking of putting a k&n in the metro just to improve the drivability a little. I know it wont do alot but i'v had the head skimmed so slightly higher compression and k&n together make a slight improvement next is a rover 220 turbo unit NOT!!!!

Max - Yep, the 1.6 is completely different sweets.
edders - The 1.6 uses a VNT turbocharger, meaning its management is very different to the 1.4's. The 1.6 has a MAP sensor and an IAT sensor, neither of which are used on the 1.4.

That will more than likely be the post IC boost sensor, mate. I'd be very surprised if yours doesn't have an IAT sensor.

This is quite a good little car you have going on here.
What power does the 1.4 TDCI make?
Gareth.

fudgekin hell, thers a lot going on here now. Nice to see some improvements though
My mum has the 136ps TDCi focus and thats a bit of an animal to be fair, the torque when the turbo spools up make it really easy to spin up the fronts

Definitely. I test drove one of those before I bought this, and dismissed it because it was "too powerful", as I was after something boring and slow! Haha! Haven't fitted the intercooler yet, and probably won't until my big move is over, but I plan to remap it with the intercooler on

Can't wait too see it sat next to the ZT both with front mounts on.
Is this fiesta destined for another one of your deisel to petty turbo conversions???
ollie
PS. Oh, have you got power director working yet?????

I'll use this one for diesel developments in the early days for a bit, posssibly going as far as fitting a bigger TDCi, but I wouldn't mind doing the naughty YB business on it!
Haven't had any joy with Power Director, it didn't feel like working

Now that would be interesting, YB running gear can be easily sourced Even standard could produce great figures
