Had a crack at polishing the fuel rail today, but ran out of time. The finish will be a bit better than this in the end, and I'll attempt the fuel pressure regulator and some other bits tomorrow, time permitting!

Hey guys, why don't you use some high flow side feed injectors from Nissan or Subaru? They are direct replacement in Zetec fuel rail and are pretty high flow - 370cc! Is your injectors (803 or whatever injectors used to match FRST ECU) are high impedance or low impedance? I just got Nissan 200SX injectors and fuel rail off Ebay for 32 quids for my ZT project! I hope there will be no problems with injectors, cause i'll use Megasquirt ECU - Megasquirt support either low and high impedance injectors....

I'm fine with my current injectors and the FRST fuel rail for now thanks, but Stage 2 with this engine may well incorporate a different inlet configuration along with other hardware so I'll bear that in mind

Andy.B: Do you have any pistures? Are this injectors are low or high impedance, cause I'm waiting delivery... According to internet they are 11 Ohm, but ... ?!?

Cant say i do at the moment but i can say you wont be getting another set like mine as there is only 10 of these injectors in the UK and my house mate has the other 4 so there are two left as spares.
They are 16 ohm and directly compatible with EEC IV. The ones that you are using may not work with EEC IV as they are 11 ohm so it depends if the ECU will fire them.
Will get pix as soon as i finnish my TDI project.

I had another nip down to the workshop today to finish my fuel rail and try the pressure regulator and compressor housing. I didn't have high hopes for the compressor housing, but it's come ok. None look as good as they will once I've got home and gone over them with Autosol. The compressor housing won't buff up to a mirror finish, but still looks better than before.

I'm now getting the hang of polishing a bit more. Got five hours' done this morning and early afternoon. Compressor housing is now finished, along with actuator and actuator bracket. Still working on the inlet manifold and charge carrier. Results:
I'm really happy with them
Also, my charge carrier was previously modified by Excursion to fit his conversion, as he was using power steering. This meant the pipes travelling over the cam cover got in the way of the hose going from the top of the charge carrier to the throttle body/ISCV. Excursion had the original take-off blocked off, and moved it to the bottom of the charge carrier, meaning this big long black hose travelled the long way round to the throttle body. I don't have PAS, and wanted to tidy it up, so I sawed off the modified take-off, drilled a hole ready to accept the original take-off position and shot blasted both areas ready to welding.
At 1pm I came back for lunch, only to find the Metro not looking too great:
Thanks chives
Went to a Mini specialist with a mate and picked up a rear screen, will have to fit it tomorrow. Patched up with brown tape for now:
My new pump turned up today. Included in the pic are my new drop links:

musicdrummer42 - Cheers I'm using a polishing machine like the pro's, not just a rag and polish, which I fear may be the difference between our methods!!

Not many updates coming in at the moment, but I go home early next week, so can begin the loom swap, from the standard diesel to XR2i loom, which will be a bit of a job! Radtec hope to have finished my second intercooler by the end of the week, and the radiator hopefully won't be too far behind it. I've asked for a radiator 70mm longer than standard - not huge, but it's another 15% of cooling area on top of the standard one
Updates:
As I've said, the take-off on the charge carrier needed moving back from its modified position (to fit Zetec cam cover with PAS pipes) to the standard position. This way I eliminate the need for a big long hose going up to the throttle body, and can use the standard Ford hose (or silicon equivalent).
As it was, with the take-off at the bottom:
Take-off pipe removed and re-positioned in newly-drilled and filed-down hole, clamped in position ready for welding:
And as it is now. Not very tidy, but that can be sorted at a later date:
Modified hole welded up:

Coming along well James, I did the loom swap on mine last weekend and it was alot easier than I thought, I was dredding it for ages It only took me 3 1/2 hours to take out all the interior , strip out the old alarm, label the new loom up and swap it over. The interior loom divides into two parts so you should only have to take out half.

That sounds great! Cheers for that Danny, bit of a spirit lifter there So does the loom split into things like fuel pump, central locking, windows etc...and leave all the stuff the bolts into the chassis with earths etc? 3 1/2 hours sounds very nice tho Did you do those two or three pin swaps too? Does this mean you're close to having it up and running?

Stuff like fuel pump, interior light, fog light switches, ignition connectors etc were on the part I took iirc. If you want I can dig out the list I made.
Its not far off running, getting the bodywork sorted next month so has to be done for then.

Go on then, I won't be home for 5 more days, so it'll give me something to think about before I get back to the car I had a quick flick through, the entire loom seemed to be there, but I'll see what you come back with. Sounds like Mr Dannyboy could be up and running before June then! Hope to see you at some events in summer perhaps then
