My big ZT thread > 15.4.08 25bhp/20lbft extra and track prep
heeman10 :Update
I was invited down to the PassionFord.com FWD Team TOTB qualifying day at Bruntingthorpe a couple of weeks ago, and though I turned it down, thought I might as well see what times my car was capable of with a little bit of its fat-boy comfyness removed, and since sorting the gearshift problem out.
You should have gone
You've always said how much you enjoyed it last time.
Is your car running as it should be now?
Looks well anyway.

Gareth - Yeah it's always fun losing some weight out of a car, but it'll all be going back in shortly...just so I can drive it down to Somerset for one!
Dave - Long time no hear Yeah I loved Brunters, but 400 miles in one day, plus a load of thrashing around the track, was a lot of time and money for a couple of hours of playing and little more, and the forecast was for rain.
How do you mean, running as it should? It's always run as it should It could do with more boost, but it's not a major priority. This engine wasn't built for big power anyway, so I've been making do with 13.5psi peak instead of 16, and 11.5psi held instead of 14.5. May fit a boost controller soonish and have a play with that, but have other things to think about first

James, i'm an alco so may have got my wires crossed
Can understand about the cost though. Its savage.
I'm trying to catch up with everything so excuse my stupidity if i've spoke out of turn.
Car looks well. I've seen you've gone a lot faster too in 0-60 stakes
Whats all this rolling road stuff as well. Hope it all works out for you mate. Also i will come to your opening day when you have it, that i promise.
I'm about to make a comeback. Its been too long, i've not drove my car since January

Yeah I think your wires have been crossed! The engine's never skipped a beat (bar two occasions where it hesitated for a fraction of a second after hard use of the limiter) in 10,000 miles. It's a rock!
The rolling road plans are still moving forward, hopefully I'll be set up down in Somerset before July's out, still quite a few bridges to cross but some major stones are falling into place now I think I'll be putting on a large FT.com rolling road day, so you'll have to get your @rse into gear and finish off to join us. What's going on with the engine you two were working on? I know things didn't go so well..

Money problems unfortunately and something came up i couldn't get out of which was a shame. Would have loved to have gone through with it but these things happen unfortunately.
I have to place on record tho that marks worksmanship is top drawer. You only have to see his project in the flesh to appreciate just what the guy is capable of doing. I've no doubt he'd have produced something special for me too, but, sorry to say it wasn't to be.
Its a shame, i've so much time for the bloke as well but it looks like he's moving onto better things now, what with the job etc.
As for mine it should be around the 220 mark tops on the original engine i have in. Its on a hybrid T2 now and MSD chip and low comp, with other bits and bobs. Unfortunately the fucker isn't sparking so its at the auto electricians atm. Should be back with me tomorrow. I've also had to do another front bumper. The old one exploded so i made a new one, took on board what you said about the other an its done.
I'll find my old thread and update it.
I've actually missed this place, tho its not half as busy as it used to be

Yeah Mark's great, it was a shame to hear you fell out over it all, I'm sure it wasn't planned at all. It sounds as though you should have a fun car in the end nevertheless. I can't remember the problem with the bumper, what happened exactly? Too right about it being quieter here now

I didn't want to fall out mate. I made that quite clear
He's sound and so are his parents. Always made me feel welcome whenever i went over. I haven't a bad word to say about him at all, never will.
Its not something i'm going to go into detail over on a public forum though but i wish him all the best.
Yeah it should be fun pal, i'm looking forward to driving it again but its not important anymore. I don't think i'll ever leave the fiesta scene however but there's more to life.
I'm looking forward to meeting Stu@MSD though, he seems a top bloke too, no bull from him i've found and will always help you out.
A bracket snapped on the bumper James, plus there were other things i weren't happy with. I'll have to find my old thread and see the last time i posted on it. Quite a bit has changed really but only over the last 3-4 weeks.
Its a shame the site has gone quiet like it has. I'd be more than willing to contribute something towards it. There are has some really nice people on here, i've learnt loads from it and also had that day at bruntingthorpe last year through it too. Can't knock it at all

Mark's parents are cool. They provide good Coco Pops and hold healthy Christmas trees, even in April! Get your skates on and get turboing once again

Mark - No thanks
A few random pics from my weekend at the Lancs RSOC show in Burnley, a trip down to Rawli's, Swinton, Altrincham and Preston. Another 250 miler
In Burnley getting some cash after 90 miles in a monsoon. The water was so deep on the motorways that water was flying up from my wheels diagonally upwards past my window Was almost positive my number plate would have been missing when I got out!
With Rawli:
Filling up in Preston after a 200 mile rain-a-thon:
And some with the Mk6 from last week some time, covered in grime:
Old red car with old red bike, new silver car with new silver bike!
I've pretty much decided to get my bumpers sprayed properly. The Halfords tin paint was just a short-term thing anyway, to cover up my smoothing etc, so it will be far less embarassing at the next show I attend

You and Jimmyeshs cars are the only ones that make me want another frst now.
I wish I had never got the escort, I am sure I wouldnt have broke the turbo then, and would have most of my plans done by now
Nevermind, I aint doing another now, think i have finally moved on

Mark - That will be after the show season, and it's just embarassing being seen in my car with the bumpers the colours they are, so I certainly don't feel like attending two more shows with it looking as it is!
Dave - Well, as you know in this world, you can rarely say "never" to much. The Mk3 Fiesta is a bug that's hard to break away from, specially when they're so cheap and still fairly accessible for now. Thanks for the kind words though

Too right, I never get to see you at shows for some reason...maybe I need to start taking the hints!
Ste - Too right they have. I'd far rather crash the Mk6, but would rather be out in the Mk3 when the sun comes out Fingers crossed I can keep it out of those walls and other cars' bumpers for a few more years!

Update
Got fed up with the bumpers, and after a last-minute invitation to a show this Sunday (which I received on Wednesday ) I decided I couldn't bear to be seen in it with the pink and brown bumpers, so a few calls, 400 miles and some money later, I have red bumpers once more!
The car still has 250 miles of rain, motorway spray and crap on it from last weekend, so once it's polished up it'll match the shine of the bumpers a little more. Main thing is the colour's a far better match! As usual...it's only "temporary" as the whole lot will be perfected during the restoration.
My word is it nice to see red bumpers again!!!!
That is all
