Mish - Thanks, that means a lot :) It's so odd for me looking back at when I joined this place and started modifying my Fiesta. There were two or three cars I was utterly in love with and looked up to (e.g. Mint_FRST and the videos of Gav Styli's car). Now that I've done so much and feel it's all "complete" bar the respray I've always wanted and power in excess of 300bhp, it's a bit of a reflecting period for me - I want to move on, but at the same time, can't imagine not having the car :-? Might come down tomorrow, drop me your number and I'll try to find my way to your place to see you and the car. I have a habit of getting lost though

Max - Right...well it doesn't fit on the poxy monitor I use here in my parents' office! :bonkers:

Mark - Thanks :D I love Gaz's products :oooh: I find it so hard not to squirt the Optimum Car Wax in my mouth - it smells so nice!!!

Looks fantastic :o I really like your car, how a fiesta should be :D

Don't bother with a Escort Cosworth, they're just a bodykitted old sierra :P Nah, seriously, keep your car and go for 300bhp, you'll only end up regret getting rid of it.

I'd go for 300bhp if it wasn't too expensive and the money was spare, but buying another car that was designed for more power is the way forward driving wise :)

Jim wants a skyline anyway, chavvy homos with dodgy black paint own cossies :)

That looks cracking! You could be forgiven for thinking that it had just been resprayed.

Mr Wall - Thanks a bunch for that :) As I've been saying to you, it does need a respray to perfect it, but getting it out in the sun today and feeling how good the paint is, I'm certainly happy with the way it's come up. More polishing like this will only make it better and better I'm sure.

Mr Boo - Thanks a lot buddy, very nice of you to say that :) I don't plan on getting rid of the Fiesta, but I'm so satisfied with it all that if push came to shove, and I wanted to sell up to move on (as opposed to buying an additional car, which is my aim), I could do so without feeling I'd left it half-finished. I do aim to get it resprayed and get a proper engine in it though - being my first ever car it has a special place in my heart :D

Mr Wall again - I desperately want something more advanced and race-orientated (e.g. Skyline/Escort Cosworth/Evo) because they really tear along...but at the same time, I adore the forgiving nature of the FWD Mk3's drive. I'd be very happy with over 300bhp, and it would only be an improvement over the 230ish I have now. True about the dodgy black paint though  I'd love to make a masterpiece out of an Escort Cosworth..just need the time, space and my own place :)

Peter Longsworth - Thanks dude. It'll do in ther interim ;)

Tom - That I have! Had to see what all the fuss was about! :p Thanks :)

I forgot to say I love the vids :D

Since the whole site format has changed a bit recently, I noticed every single one of the linked index references on page one of this thread linked to the first page! So I've now gone through every single page reference and re-linked it to the correct page :) I've also added videos that are still hosted on Smo's webspace. That is all!

I know, same. I feel like a total failure...highlighted by the re-organising of the index of my 29-page thread relating to my 13 year old car I've fiddled with for FIVE YEARS. Sent an email to another unsuspecting company today, I've already preset my email account to delete the reply email because it'll be a rejection

 @ knuckles :D

Lol, I'll get some vids when I have someone else in the car to hold the camera

If it were an authentic GReddy valve, I wouldn't have any worries but this is a copy and I had to take the thing apart as the diaphram inside wasn't even sealing properly (saying that though, my mates HKS sequential valve had the same peoblem). The thing I like about the Greddy valve is that it has 2 nipples (another word for knuckles to laugh at :bonkers:) - One for vacuum and one for boost (one either side of the diaphram) which is apparently meant to help the valve stay closed even on high boost applications, dunno how affective it is though. I'm only running a bar boost but still..... I'll put it to the test when I change from my chargecooler to front mount intercooler :)

Cheers,

Kris :)

Kris - That's how boost pressure relief valves work (be it a dump valve, BOV or whatever other name it's given). They are held close by the combination of the downward force exerted by the spring and the downward pressure introduced with the inlet manifold hose (a positive pressure when on-boost). They are then opened when the throttle is lifted and that inlet manifold pressure turns negative (i.e. vacuum) and the valve is effectively sucked open from above, and helped by the positive boost pressure pushing upwards from underneath the valve in the charge pipe. And yeah, feel free to PM me about the course :)

wakeboardtom - Thanks :) Go get an engine to bolt in ;)

Yeah I know that they're held closed with the spring and open on vacuum but this has 2 nipples on it. I think its to equal out the pressure changes with the diaphram so the spring doesn't have to fight as much against the boost to hold the valve shut.... God knows, Thats how I thought it was being explained to me on the SX owners club lol.

Bit worried about you getting a turn on from a greddy valve  :oooh:

Laughter makes you live longer (scientific fact) - So i make my own humour.

I spent nearly a hour reading through all this topic last night and i admire the ammount of hard work and dedication on the fiesta. Makes me wanna do a conversion :D

That's rubbish matey, tell whoever told you that to read some books or something  Equalising the pressure on the "topside" of the valve with respect to the pressure underneath the valve would leave the spring being the only thing holding the boost pressure in, which wouldn't be enough, and would completely negate the valve's presence  Stick a pic up :)

knuckles - Thanks :) There are SO many things I'd do differently if I were to do it all from the beginning again, but that's the way these things work. You do things, end up not completely happy with them, and do them better the next time :aviator:
