My big ZT thread > 15.4.08 25bhp/20lbft extra and track prep
Re: My big ZT thread > 15.4.08 25bhp/20lbft extra and track prep
XRMike - The front tyres offer loads of grip, the back tyres do not anymore, so what was once a typical FWD, understeer-prone car has now turned into one where the back end really needs looking after! I have plenty of plans for it, but after a fairly involving and extremely expensive year setting up our business down here in Somerset, the car needs to get shunted a fair way down the priorities list unfortunately.
rs-tom - You would need to speak to Motorsport Developments regarding the mapping of your standard engine management system. I believe £750 is still a fairly standard price. Removing the boost limit is about 5% of the mapping process. As I said, an 8v 1.6 is a very different engine to a 1.8 or 2.0 16v. Setting the boost pressure is a very small part of the picture, and if you want good power that won't damage the engine, it needs mapping. At the very least you could perhaps speak to MSD about a custom chip suited to your engine, but even then I would not advise running the car without a good set-up on a good rolling road. Bear in mind the time and money you would throw away if you chose to save £300 or so by trying to run such an engine on a Fiesta RS Turbo chip and lost the engine as a result.

Chris - The only update I can offer is that I'll be declaring the car SORN again at the end of this month! I think it's been out five times in the last six months during which it's been taxed, and the grotty weather is here again, so...it's that time of the year. It hasn't been fired up for two months or so, and I don't even know where the garage key is for me to do so I'll take it out for a spin before I SORN it, just so I don't forget what it can do

danthehat - Thanks for your comments matey That bumper strip was actually posted to me by one of my old forum mates off this forum, from some shop in Essex. It would've been in about 2002 I think!
smidydevil - Thanks buddy But as you have now been informed, this car is in pieces all over the country

You and me both, Rich. I was hoping to have been able to build something to replace it by now, but buying a house, amongst other things, is meaning I'm having to be very patient. Whatever I do next won't be able to do what my trusty Fiesta did, in the way it did it, that's for sure!

Jon - The dyno was sold to fund my house. I miss it! Breaking the car up and selling the dyno were two horrible and grown-up decisions. I wish I hadn't had to do either, but these things have to be done sometimes. I dearly wish the Fiesta was parked alongside my current car, in my garage, but we can't have it all, hey?
