Nice mate, nice! I need to give consideration to the seats for mine, as well, there won't be a lot of room after the tunnel is in.
Those Recaro's weigh a ton don't they!

Shaun - Sounds interesting..it'd better be a turbo I do enjoy circuit driving, don't get me wrong, but the roads are where it's at for me Combe is only a bit over an hour away, which is closer than I've been to any of my "local" circuits back home, so perhaps I'll be a bit more tempted to make use of it in the future
Ross - We have different email addresses. Steve is Steve@for-tunepve.com, I'm James@for-tunepve.com I will try and sort out a ballpark figure for you today, but as said, that price could change once the engine is with the builders for inspection. If I haven't emailed through a price by around 3pm, email me at work (not via PM please) and I'll get onto it My cage is unofficially for sale buddy
Mark - Why not face the problem head on? Bolt a seat on top of the transmission tunnel and build the first McFord F1-esta! The Recaros weighed in at 16.9kg last timeI weighed them!

car is looking well James, still one of my genuine favorites. Why the hell were you working on it outside with a jack when there is a lift inside?!?

Re: My big ZT thread > 15.4.08 25bhp/20lbft extra and track prep
On Wednesday I made up some bonnet raisers, which I really don't like the look of, but this is life
Some nice squidgy Toyo R888s turned up yesterday morning. I collected a set of four more Escort GTI rims on Wednesday night, so will have the R888s fitted to a pair of those.
All that's left is to fit the crossmember if possible, and clean it!

you really don't need raisers on track mate, made no difference at all to my temps.

Hope it stays dry for tomorrow, nice set of rubber you have there. I'm guessing the risers will only help if you stuck in a queue.

Re: My big ZT thread > 15.4.08 25bhp/20lbft extra and track prep
Dave/Jamie - Every little helps
My preparations finished this evening once I'd finished "work" work. I fitted the crossmember back underneath, which I've found in the past makes a noticeable different to handling, turn-in in particular. Had the Toyos fitted, then test fitted them on the car (which I lowered about 10mm at the front yesterday). I had very limited arch clearange (R888s don't come in a shallower profile than 50 in 195mm/15" configuration) so I raised the front back up a bit and only experienced one light scrub on a test drive down the bumpiest road around here
Turn-in is fantastic now. The sidewalls on the R888s are very stiff. It takes me back to the first time I tried my 185/60/13 8v XR2i alloys after rolling on 155/80/13 standard wheels. The sidewalls take out so much slop, so to jump up again to these road legal slicks is a vast improvement.
I have a fairly different approach to the car, now that I'm not routinely racking up 5,000 miles a year in it. The rear brakes are a definite issue with no interior, and they lock up well WELL before the fronts. I want R888s at the back now, and want the car lower, so the arches will undoubtedly need some tear-inducing treatment. All in due course anyway, for now, time to see how the old bugger does at Castle Combe in the morning! Fingers crossed the pistons hold on

Everything looking great James, Really annoying you can't get any lower profile R888's. I had the same problem when looking for mine but in 16"

Adam - Cheers dude They are a lot of fun these little beasties!
Max - I came up against it last time and didn't bother with them, but now the car is used so rarely, and with Castle Combe fairly handy, it made more sense this time. 16s would be a nightmare!!
Dave - Too right, it was nice just to tax it after two months SORN tbh! But yes, it's great to be able to maximise on what the sloppy old Mk3 Fiesta shell can actually do at last, and this is only the beginning As above, trying to get anything but tiny profile tyres on 16s would be a nightmare! I trust yours is still blasting around happily?
Matt - I don't like them one bit, so they'll be off when they're not needed!

Those tyres look the business.
Those that can, do; and those that can't, talk about it.

Hi Mat.
All internals are bog standard. A 1.5mm decompression plate is sandwiched between two headgaskets, and that is the only alteration, bar the bolt-ons (i.e. turbo, inlet manifold, exhaust system). The engine is currently making 193bhp and 245lbft peaking at around 14.5psi and holding about 13.5psi I seem to remember. I could squeeze a touch more out of it to make it hold 1 bar at peak power to nudge over the 200bhp mark, but it's fine as it is, and only a 1.8

Picked up some new outer weather seals for the bottoms of the windows today:
How much was thease in UK?
Only a couple of quid - absolute peanuts if I remember rightly, as I had to buy a set for mine from Ford a few months ago and was pleasantly surprised by the price
I believe that there's people on ebay that ask silly money for them though

rs-tom - Generic chips intended for use with another engine (i.e. plugging a 1.6 8v CVH chip in to run a 1.8 16v Zetec) are not a good way to go. Different engine capacities, different injector sizings, different turbo characteristics, exhaust systems, compression ratios etc all add up to give a very different engine. My engine was mapped by Motorsport Developments and runs on OFAC still at the moment.

It looks very well prepared for a thrash around a track . Those tyres should provide you with lots of grip. Any future plans for this little beast ?
