howdy chaps, got the ferry over to wales three weeks ago to pick this little beast up, ive wanted a black rs since i crashed my red mk3 back in november so i was chuffed to find this one at a good price,

plans are,
-strip engine out and and clean up and pain engine and engine bay,
-underseal the whole car and paint all of the suspention components,
-buy a full set of green stripes,
-set of escos alloys,

acually theres loads of bits i wanna do so ill just update as i do them,

anyways heres some pics and specs, shes a 1990 rs, engines standard bar a pace double capacity intercooler, interiors in really good nick not much wear at all, ill be putting a standard front bumper and boot on it,

Looks nice! I'd refit some standard items, needs def. green stripes and amber indicators.

I'm really jealous, that you guys over there in GB can go out and buy a FRST. Here in Germany there is one car offered in a year.

That's a shame, would you be able to import from Italy or Spain?

Iirc it's a car from Switzerland. The FRST was never sold by Ford in Germany, as from the beginning of the 90s all new cars neede to have an cat.

Sorry for "hijacking" your thread Dave. Back to your car: Do you keep the front splitter?

Very nice indeed. I like what has been done with the rear brace to make it adjustable! Might do that to my spare one :D

That looks good. It would be well worth drilling out those seat mounts whilst you are there, as they will be totally though in a couple of years or so :)

I tried to clean mine. The result wasn't even close to yours. I have to admit, that my header was a lot dirtier at the beginning. I sourced a new one now, but i'm afraid of using it, as they get dirty inside very fast.

Re: my new black rs turbo project.... stripping and shiney bits

Postby Dave5300 on Fri Apr 20, 2012 12:43 am

howdy chaps small update, had the vrt on monday so started stripping the other night, had the dash out looking for rust and started stripping the engine, comeing out this saturday weather permitting  so i gave the carpet a wash and the dash, also, i hate the way the steel nut on the rear popouts as they rust and leave a horrible rust streak on the glass so spent the day in work makeing new ones out of stainless :Q although when i went to fit them on the passenger side, the bolt on the latch side rung of, all rusted up so may sort a new one :( also i picked up a few goodies from maxwell on here last week, a set of compomotive mo5 flatface alloys in really good nick, also got a radiator as mine has a hole and a fan as mine got a bad spray job in silver, and i managed to get my hands on brand new mk3.5 mirrors :D

anyways on with the pics :)
