couple of small bits my turbo exhaust adaptor is here to run the std cossie 'flange' , also got few bits coated, few more bits going off to be coated in the next week for the engine as altho the pulleys dont really matter the alloy ones are s**t and jump the belts so not using them, i will just redo mine :D

Postby MAD_Adamski on Mon Jul 26, 2010 7:01 pm

Well not really a UPDATE as such but thought i'd drag this up as its been a while,,,

My engine is now with MAD, been stripped down and the Pistons and rods have arrived today, the engine should be ready in the next few weeks hopefully!

Gearbox- this is now on its way from sweden i have got the Lude dog Straight cut dog engagement, immensley strong and fast changing, ideal for track and drag racing,gearing,,1st 2.5 = 63.47mph, 2nd 1.64 = 96.75mph, 3rd 1.25 = 126.93mph 4th 1.00 = 158.67mph, 5th 0.85 = 186.66mph the gearkit will land then be shot peened and then rebuilt into my casing again in the next month!

Wheels- i have ordered 2, 9'' Mo's for the rear so i will be running 8'' front 9'' rear! These will be painted anthercite.

Car currently on its way to Jamies to have some small tweeks 1 or 2 little things fixed jamie forgot to do last time. He will paint the rims and give it a good cleaning!

The car will then be heading to my friend who is a rally car builder, who will pick my engine up from MAD and fit it all into the car and take the car to his mates to have the external wastegate modded and get the car running! Mark will give me a base map to make it run, then when all done it will go down to mark to be fully mapped and full boost applied!

Hoping for 500-550hp altho i know my inlet will be the restricting factor now.

So back on the road late 2010 :Q

basically i took some parts over and also picked parts up my mate is on standby now for when mark had done the engine he will stop what he is doing and get my car done!

decided to go with the hart inlet so that will be happening now, but the car has been washed clean rear rims on now, fronts have been painted over the weekend getting few things powdercoated as i had them crackled and its peeled over the last few yrs :x alot still to do but getting there now alot to come over the next month!

The front arches look wierd mate IMO, they're just too high. It looks like a rally car set up for gravel at the front, but not the rear...

it looks s**t bro cause its too high, yes the engine is out BUT even then its too high i never got round to lowering it before it went off the road as it was about 20mm to high... but it is so tricky to get it spot on each corner matching it takes ages so will be done in the near future :)

ok went down today and got the engine in :top:

got my centre caps on the rear wheels and replaced the nuts with the black ones!

Image

Image

so few hours down the line and we get it in and begin to hook it up...

Image

Image

Image

then grabbed a pic of neil who was helping me  he builds and races rally cars

Image

And thought i'd throw in a picture of his dads darrian as he was fiddling with it

Image

got quite far with it really but got to a bit of a rut now as most the parts that need to go on now need other things first, missing a few parts to be able to build it back up, so hopefully have these bits in the next week or 2......

but then 1 problem i have is i have my hart throttle cable kit but i cant see how it works!?

heres the kit

and heres the TB

ok so finally my dogbox is here and is sat next to the car waiting to fit tomorrow, due to the gearbox i decided the std gearshift may not be up to the job so i invested in a proper shifter. Also my new manifold arrived but due to a miscomunication will be going back in favour for the same one but in twin scroll. me header tank and other parts have been coated black also and ready to refit.

So hopefully by tomorrow evening the car should be ready bar the turbo and manifold being fitted :oooh: ...

ok so after a day of graft got quite abit done, gearbox is now on, and the inlet and various other things, the new manifold is yet to arrive so we can bolt the turbo on. My mate is going to fit the gearshift for me in the next week or two and then we can crack on with all the niggly bits, tbh were 90% there now...

OK so we got the oil in the box, diffs, engine etc etc just a couple os small jobs then the water can go in the only main job really left is the exhaust system, due to the changes it needed the downpipe modding but unfortunatly my mech managed to accidently lower the ramp onto the welder and break the regulator, SO we couldn't tac it in place for me to take to be welded however in the next 2/3 days were hoping to have everything done and ready to fire.... Neil is going to turn it over tomorrow and get the oil pumping round, then ready for a proper startup when the downpipe is done.

still alot of small things to be done tho like the heat shield when the exhaust and turbo is properly finished, turbo damper but should all come together quite quickly now! :)

ok today was D day after all the hard work and time and labour it started for the first time, stil alot of things im not happy with and wanna do but for now it works, neil is going to sort the last few things out for me and get it ready to go to marks for the run in map midweek!

Image

Few things i have a problem with that i may need help with, first major one

1. the airbox will NOT fit due to the wastegate  which means i need a cone OR a custom airbox made but what can i use for mark to base map it?

2. the roose hose connecting to the intercooler is too big i did order one for a std intercooler outlet but he sent me a 3'' i think now will he make one smaller or do i have to chop the frigging cooler :headbang:
