My Escort Cosworth...
Do I assume you mean on an angle, from one side to the other, to improve torsional rigidty, or just a pair of bars from front to back on each side? Thought they looked quite Leda-ish

thanks mate , for those interested the car has not moved really, the strut brace metal has been ordered and on its way ....
this weekend i should have the car back with the new coil box fitted and my new radiator... then the car will be going over to have the chassis bars in the next couple of weeks ....
few things i have decided too...
the car is going to be fitted up with a 2WD Ahmed rear beam and setup this will allow me to run stronger shafts and eliminate the toe problem on cossie's as std.. Altho this will be expensive will be a very worth while mod that with my coilovers, rose jointed drop links powdercoated rear roll bar and new uprated diff hanger. Also on the cards when the car has been to danny's i shall be getting AH to make me a custom fuel cell built in swirl pot and setup allowing me to run my own spec fuel setup which should be good enough to flow whatever i want in the future...
All very complex and busy alot do to over the next few months but with my plans the car will be structually and handling wise amazing... leaving me to mod the engine in the future... all talk just now but i will add pics as and when...
cheers Ad

cheers guys, ian has his pm reply ...
The car hasn't been overheating, that is the the fact i had my new rad fitted and i didnt tighten the cap properly so when i drove it some leaked out but the new rad is perfect and it runs cool as ever now.. Max the cover will be about £50 which i am not happy about but tbh i'm gonna put it off for a few weeks as im skint and its no emergancy to replace it... in the mean time plans are still coming in place were designing my fuel system and making templates for the rear turrets and things should all be coming together very shortly

All looks very impressive
I can't help but think those bars should be braced somewhere in the middle.

Re: My Escort Cosworth *update 6/8/07*
cheers sphinx , my templates for the turrets plates are made just need to get the right steel and cut to shape then bend it and get Ah to weld it in for me ... Still need to get my strut brace bar and shape it for them to weld too ... due to me being skint tho the chassis bars wil have to wait a few weeks ....
Also think i have decided on a route for the fuel system!? i am toying with the idea of cutting the boot floor and recessing a steel box and fitting a cell in there then having a large lid covering it allowing me boot space still and also giving the cell protection from any knocks, off that running my aeromotive fuel filter-lift pump-internal swirl pot-aeromotive fuel pump-fuel rail-aeromotive fuel reg...
still trying to get my head round it all but this maybe my best option ....
So if anyone wants to donate some cash to the adam fund i'll gladly crack on and get the fuel system on the way

Re: My Escort Cosworth *update 6/8/07*
another day passes and some more work , strut bars were bought shaped and started to be welded in until the welder decided to die .....
But got things coming along nice, need to save up some money so i can order my aeroquip hosing and fittings and my new rear beam...
My fuel system parts have arrived and i'm pleased so just need to decide on the fuel tank and design, finish the strut brace make up the turret strengthening plates weld them in then the car will need to go to jamie ... Also think my rear diff is on the way out so a ideal time to replace it for the 2WD setup ... few pics

Re: My Escort Cosworth *update 12/9/07*
Ok gonna drag this back up after planning and saving, the car will be soon going off to Danny B for seam welding finishing my rear strut brace and chassis bars....
Cars then off to my mates bodyshop to have the boot bubble removed and plated have the rear half of the inside resprayed and the rear half underside stripped and speedlined.. then i can get the new interior in, off bigpower ..
The fuel tank lines etc be removed renewed with braided items then off to Ah fabrication for a custom fuel cell.. once working will be making my way over to harvey gibbs to recieve my new 2WD adj rear beam and 2WD diff and uprated hanger... then thats phase 1 complete
many pics and updates to come soon, Ad xx

Re: My Escort Cosworth...
the car will be still 4wd my diff is totally shafted atm ... The std 2wd item is stronger than the 4wd item eing as the 2wd item runs 100% power normally unlike the ecos one which is 64% or whatever it is and 2wd also runs thicker driveshafts and i have heard of ecos's snapping rear shafts on launching BUT the std ecos diff is 7'' the 2wd item is 7.5'' and wont fit on the 4wd beam. So being sensable i ordered a 2wd adj beam and have the new diff and shafts waiting to go on... the std 4wd prop etc fits fine and ratios all work so all i am basically doing is ftting better stronger stuff not cheap tho
