hi,

Went to Pf Daddy thrash @ bruntingthorpe last thursday.

Good day, but crap weather.

Good to see everyone, and the cars, shame their were alot of brake ages.

i had problems,
but on the runs they timed me,
but Pf Dave sed i was fastest to 60 with 3.49 seconds, and 2nd on top speed @ 173mph, only beaten by Rod/Mark shead = 201mph

1st problem, my 8 greens were maxing out, so had to run on 23psi boost on a safe map i mapped up there. to stop ecu goin into Limp mode. Edited 1/06, as it was a ecu fault, not injectors maxing out.

but i also had clutch slip on some runs, Edited 1-06 as this is now cured, due to a new clutch pedal set up, and cable.

and transfere box chain started to jump tooth so had to be gentle with it. 1/06 STILL not sorted

Cheers to my Brother for workin thro the night with out kip to get the car semi ready, and helpin me up there.

and thanks to PF Dave and Nick, and everyone who helped, inc Mark s, Kenny, Marco, and the AET turbo boys who meet me up there. and Simon sec's for his time.

i was runnin my new s8 ecu, which i mapped b4 we went to brunters, and while we were thier.

and still have boost problems on my turbo, but are on the way to sortin it.

Do you have any pictures of how the rear axle is mounted to the car dude?

I'm going to be making a start on mounting mine in the next few days and wouldn't mind seeing how you have done yours

Recieved a new twin port 22psi actuator today.

Had to modifie fitment to get it to fit, (as i had to do to all the actuators i tried on the AET gt30),
The problem is the actuator mountin bracket i welded on the compressor housin is put in a position where it misses the bonnet, but on the AET turbo the exhaust housin is alot bigger than the old MD240r turbo (was a t34 0.63 housin), so the rod hits the ex housin on part openin.

but rather than modifie the actuator it self, i've made a new rod end, which gives it clearance too the ex housin. and means i can fit any actuator now with out any work :D .

will post pics up later.

At mo i'm STILL waitin on Simon (s.e.c's) to send me a fix for my ecu (i've been waitin for 4 weeks now :( )
so till i get that i cant run over 27 psi at all, in which i cant map it on full boost.

But tonight i'll hopefully be able to see if the new actuator gives me the boost i want, even if i cant hold it for more than 4 seconds (due to ecu)

Also last week i belived i sorted the clutch problems i had at brunters,
i've had to machine the gearbox casin slightly to let the clutch fully disengauge, and also had to modifie the clutch pedal.
Tomorrow i've gonna fit a new clutch cable to try and help abit more, as the old one (even tho only a year old) got abit hot once (melted) before i made a heat shield to stop it.

Thanks alot mate. :D

Ive had my clutch pedal off, and modified it.,

it now has 15mm movement, (it now sits same hieght of the brake pedal, which it did sit lower)

and also i've got rid of the self adjusting ratchet, and made it manual by weldin a nut on the arm, and usin a long m10 bolt with a lockin nut, so i can adjusted with a spanner.

i also fitted a spring on the clutch thrush bearin arm, so it fully disengages, and a spring from the pedal to steerin rack, so the pedal lifts itself up fully even with foot restin on it.

Also fitted new clutch cable.

I now have a fully disengaging and engaging clutch with a nice and smooth clutch pedal.

I'm goin out now to test it.

it this dont work then i'm goin Hydrolic.

just got back from testin the cossie,

1st
the ecu (since Simon sec's sorted new software) seems to be workin as it should.

2nd
the clutch didnt slip, even with 32 psi spike between 4000 & 5000 rpm.
but needs slight more adjustment to help get in gear wen not movin.

3rd
tested the new twin port actauor,
but the most it would held was 32psi peak, 25psi held at redline
so gonna speak to AET turbo's tommorrow to see wot to do next.

Done a trackday @ Brandshatch Indy last sunday 18-12-05

had a few problems today, which lead to only 40 mins of track time, out of the posible 240minutes.

1.The main one bein the clutch pedal broke, and it took 2 hours of askin around for bits and effort to fix it (bodge) Now fixed, will post pics in abit.

2. the throttle reponse on 0 - part throttle was bad, and really unsettled the car on mid bend

3. handleing is best its been, but still not good. Need to check Caster, bump steer and corner wieghts.

This is what i set it up to the day before.

Got 1 mm toe in total, front and back,
2 degree neg camber on the fronts,
1 degree total neg camber on the rear.

i found it fun, but paddock caught me out a few times, as did the bump on the inside of the Start finish straight.

i didn't get enought time to learn the track nor the car since changin the set up.

but in the last 15 minute outin a mate timed me at 0.59 - 1.01 a lap, as didn't get round to puttin lap timer out.

i think i had another 2 seconds to skim off once i learn the track. and even more to save once i set the car up to handle its best.

Even tho the problems ended up enjoyin myself, and might go back thier in Feb 2006.

Happy Christmas and New year everyone

This is my new house (1st) which i got the Keys 3 days ago.

even tho its got a large garage, and lots of parking (2 in garage and 6 on driveway and back yard)

it needs alot of work, but it will be worth it in the end.

the major down full is time and funds will not be there (as it was) for the cars for a while.

but i will try.

House looks sweet as mate, very similar setup to a friend of mines. double garages are great

how come you're using a 2-port actuator? whats the advantages of it?

on twin port actuator, you have more controll, and dont need to run as much preload, as a single port (std)

But if your std style actuator is workin fine on your setup (not blowin open under back pressure THERE is NO advantage.

Just fitted the new clutch quadrant, had to mod it alittle to get the cable to fit.

but it works perfect.

The plans now are,

1. map the car at 15,20,25 and 33-25psi

2. take the car to a rolling road in early 2006.

3. set the suspension up, for Corner wieght, bump steer, and castor.

4. in Feb do another Brandshatch indy Trackday.

Well The Performance Ford DADDY Thrash was out last Thursday.

Thanks Dave, Nick and rest of PF mag.

Not bad for wet

3.49 to 60,
173.3mph before brow of hill (in rain and dark)

all on 23 psi boost (about 420 bhp)

Also its been 1 whole year since the xr2 has been turbo'd, as still in the middle of a full spec change (since 10-01-2005. lol)
but i have fitted a new starter motor, and 4 bulbs in this year.

Plan is,

1. sort house and garage, move in.
2. get cossie rolling roaded @ different boost
3. sort handleing on cossie
4. get a few 10 sec 1/4 times, and 180 mph on a mag feature (fingers crossed)
5. Sort xr2 new engine, tune it, dyno it, get it to the pod in 2006.

just had Fiecos wiegh'd @ a local wiegh bridge,

come in @ 1280kg in road trim inc full fuel tank, but no driver (i wiegh 80kg's)

as trackday trim = 1220kg

Lighter then i thought. i was excepting 1250-80 kg's in track trim.

I'm off to Surrey rollin road tomoz to do some mapping and power runs with the fiecos @ different boost.

yeah i've got a big wing/baffled set up,

but i raised the rev limit for the rolling road day from 7700 to 8100rpm,

i guess the pump/oil ways werent up for the job and it starved the big ends.

learn't another lesson, but will do stuff to stop it happening again.

Well, I suppose you'll never find the limits of an engine like this without pushing past them, but I daresay that wasn't what you were after at all :( Do you think your oil lines are past their best or the pump needs uprating?
