Everything was put on hold whilst i was working on the cossie,

and now i've got a back log of customer's work that needs to be done 1st, as well as sort the XR2.
As well as working long hours at work.

So once i've got a clear time period, i'll get back on it.

Re: My Fiecos and Xr2tt, 5-8-07 cossie rebuild.

Postby fiecos dan on Sun Sep 30, 2007 1:52 pm

But i have done abit on theXR2tt,

8-07

- i've fitted the new EMS 5 ignition setup, but had issue'd with it missing on idle, but cured this last night. So will be setting it up this week.
- Gaz coilovers are fitted on the front with 300lb springs, i had to modifie the shocks, hub's and space the wheels out 10mm to fit these, but they are on.
Did have 9" springs, but couldn't lower the car past 35mm, so i fitted 8" items on now, and i've had them as low as 65mm drop with out scrub, but have put them back to my original height of -50mm.

I tried to set the front suspension up a few weeks ago, but i had a issue with the amount of castor i'm running, and play in the top shock bush,
so i've got to modifie the bottom and top cup to fit the new castor.

9-07

Fitted the new rad, and intercooler setups.
To do so,
-i've cut some of the front panel, and cross member, and seam welded the cross member.
-new rad and inter mounts have been welded in place, all the rad plumbing needed changing.
-the number plate needed repositioning, and the bumper needed quite abit of work to fit the new inter.
-I've made all new St/St boost pipe work,
-also i've made a new Alternator heat shield, and completely heat wrapped the starter motor.

To do plans

Will set front end suspension up,
fit new spax rear socks,
New rear brake lines, 1 new front, pads and fluid,
Engine oil and filter, and gearoil,
Refit a Choke on the R5 carb, as never had one fitted, and can be a Bic™ when cold weathers here,
Sort the best rad fan i can get in there,
Full set (first since i fitted the T3)

The crank wont be getting used, i didn't know it was bent till the bottom end was built so i could measure/check it.

The machinest told me it was straightened with the grind, but after i checked it, i found out he f-cked the crank, as the stroke's are well out, and its still bent.

The xr2tt had a bad day yeaterday, and N-1 rod put a hole in the front of the block.

So its time to strip and break it.

Ah what :( I passed your XR2 on Sunday afternoon too! I would have tooted, but you wouldn't of had a clue who I was

What actually happened? Rod bend/snap? Bolt snap? Surely you can build up another bottom end using a decent 1.6 CVH block - from what I've gathered on here, you seem pretty capable!

Cheers lad's for the comments,

i'm not putting up forsale yet, as not 100% certain, as there's a part in me that just wants to finish. So gonna give it at least a week to think it thro.

I've not touch'd it since i towed it back to my house, so as yet dont know whats let go or why.

i could easierly rebuild it as have enough parts around to rebuild it, just time is the issue,
50 - 65 hours @ work, then 15 - 40 hours on other stuff, dont leave time to do my own stuff, and if i cut my work hours, the bills wont get paid.

Lovely car mate, would be a shame not to get it back on the road, just read through this thread and I love it, the cooler on the Cossie is probably the biggest I have seen. Love the XR2 as well.

Cheers lads.

Yeah i'm still around, but niether cars have not been given much attention, or been on the road. I did have a spell a month or so ago where i done some work on the cossie,
The front Avo's have been respeced and rebuilt, Pipers re polished the cams,
modified the header tank, steering joint, measure up for and got some adjustable top mounts.

My time has been shared to work, DIY and my R6 motorbike and trackdays on that.

there is absolutely zero point in doing that.

bad luck on the machine work and the blown engine mate, but always give you the chance to re-spec and upgrade :D

Cheers mate.

The Xr2tt is no more, the shell and 80% of the parts have been sold.

No real updates on the cossie. Its still sitting on axle stands. But

I've had the front shocks rebuilt for track by Avo,
The cams went back to Piper to make sure they are the correct profile, and a polish.
I've modified the header tank,
I remade the steering UJ.

I've used a 5 different carbs in my development of the xr2tt, (i used to build, spec and tune TT's)

The last carb setup i used, was a modified Reno 5 carb, which i do have for sale, complete on manifold, cables and hose work.
