Re: MY FIESTA HAS BEEN STOLEN :(
halfpint :it should say on the log book thats its been a cat D, the fiesta i had before my current one did !
I'm sure cat D's haven't always had a marked book. Also, insurance co. knew in advance it was Cat D when they accepted liability. They shouldn't be in a position to back out now and moreover, they seem somewhat remiss in their duty of care by not informing you it was Cat D. Have a go at them, throw some s**t and see if it sticks
Nothing to see here...

Re: MY FIESTA HAS BEEN STOLEN :(
Bad news, insurance have just rang up and they have been to value the car and have said its only worth £180 somehow so i wont be getting anything back because of the insurance going up this month to £250 a month and they also want £150 excess
So all in all i will be owing them money

Re: MY FIESTA HAS BEEN STOLEN :(
That sounds disgraceful. If your excess is £150 how does it work out that you owe them money? Obviously its a write off therefore worst case scenario if they require your excess it's £30 to you? Obviously thats not good enough - don't accept that offer, try and get more. I HATE insurance companies sometimes.

Re: MY FIESTA HAS BEEN STOLEN :(
was it insured as modified?
if it was have you got a like for like clause? it may be worth pushing them to get them to first of all find you a 1.6s.... secondly in that condition and thirdly for that money!
do you have a recipt of when you brought the car? also tell them that you expect them not to send a chq out untill they have offered a sensible amount that you dont consider an insult etc. that way it should not be released from the "secure area" of the scrap yard as the claim is not settled and that way if anythnig gets removed then you can you can then in that situation also inform them that you had considered not persuing the claim any longer and that bits have in effect been stolen from it while they have failed to provide reasonable duty of care while in their custody.... that would knacker them lol
unless you are with a specialist insurer they take the pi$$ for modified cars of this age!

No s**t! Surely by agreeing to insure you they have to pay out in event of a claim, of course you won't pay any more considering that the car is now a burnt out shell sitting in a scrapyard.
I'd get back onto them, don't accept any stupid offers and if needed, get a solicitor on board - the car was rare, tell them you want a like for like replacement or the cash to buy an equivalent model car - and until they do that, demand a courtesy car to get yourself around while the insurance company buggers around with offers. Generally speaking the more you ask for the quicker they'd get their arses in gear - i.e if they agree to give you a courtesy car they are paying for the rental - the longer they take, the more they have to pay for rental.
