My Fiesta RS Turbo project - AN ACTUAL UPDATE!!! (08/05/13)
Today I bought a fiesta RS Turbo!!!!!
I'm absolutely over the moon! Its absolutely mint! Has recently had a full respray and the filler cap replaced. has a folder full of documents and is pretty much mint inside and underneath too!!
Has a clifford alarm and a fuel cut off switch and is generally imaculate!
Been looking for the right one to come along for ages and finally found this one last night!
I'm going to do little bits and pieces on it over the summer ready to insure it on my 21st birthday when insurance will be cheaper.
Anyway, here's some pics:
Let me know what you think

Cheers ppl!
So far my plans are to lower it -35mm and change the wheels. Either some white comps or mondy five spokes painted grey. Also a stainless exhaust and sort the engine bay out. Also want to sort the interior out too so it is ultra clean!
Other than that just little bits and pieces need doing to complete it to how I want it!

Re: Today I bought...........
Is it a genuine FRST ?
Just wondered because it seems to sit very high for a FRST
Looks like a nice tidy example though and the plans for it sounds good

Re: Today I bought...........
Standard RST look awesome. I would say that one has had the standard FRST springs replaced for standard Fiesta ones at some point, that's why it is sitting so high.
Whats going on with the green strips? The bumper ones don't match the side ones.

How can you afford to have 3 cars?
As for the wheels anything but the Mondy 5 spokes

Re: Today I bought...........
Looks good mate. The suspension definately isnt RS suspension tho...I could sleep under the rear arch!!
Will look loads better with lowered susp anyway. I suppose the different green bumper insert is because the original might have been lost when it was painted, but thats nothing to worry about.
A few bits and pieces neatened up will make it a nice car, especially with 16" mondeo 5spokes (which ive got a box fresh set of with tyres that i might be selling soon!!! )
Nice one tho mate!!

Cheers for the comments ppl!
Yea, the green stips in the bumpers have been replaced, the guy selling it gave me the rest of the roll of it that wasn't used, will try and get some original ones. Does anyone know where I could source any from??
It is rather high, I have to admit! Will be lowered very soon tho
Still can't decide which wheels to put on it!
I can't! I'm selling the zetec s to pay for the rs, have borrowed the money to buy it and so am paying it off when I sell the zs!

Re: My Fiesta RS Turbo project (update 19/7/09-pics!)
Well as of the moday before last I got to work on stripping the rs turbo. Not updated my thread till now because I've been so busy with It I haven't really had a minute to myself!
Anyway, finally found the time update my thread and to upload some pics!
Well first I did a compression test to see how worn the engine was, readings weren't too bad but were higher with oil than without meaning the pistons are slightly worn, but i'm thinking of getting the bottom end re-bored anyway. Heres the car when I was doing the tests:
Then got the car in the garage and started stripping it. Here's the interior on its way out! (everything is stripped out now apart from the dash):
Then jacked the car up using the good old breeze blocks again like with the si and got the engine out:
Engine has now been stripped, here's the top end as I was stripping it:
Here's the engine bay after a thorough cleaning (it was covered in oil before!):
The got the rust off the front arches and gave them two coats of hammerite:
Then got the back bumper off and was shocked to see how good the rear panel was compared to how the si's was when I did it! Just some surface rust in places that I got off and that is also now painted with two coats of hammerite:
Finally, I cleaned up the rear arches and painted them with two coats of black hammerite (no pics of them as yet) and then cleaned up the rear bit of chassis where the spare wheel goes and removed any rust and have now painted as shown in the pic:
After cleaning and derusting:
After painting:
Thats it so far, next im carrying on forward de-rusting and painting red the rest of the underside of the car, followed by de-rusting and painting all the components i've removed that im putting back on, then I'm building the car back up!
As always, comments welcome

lol, yea, pretty high but makes it really accessible to work on underneath
Gonna give the head a good clean up while the cars in bits, and may even get it sent off and rebuild depending how the budget goes.

Re: My Fiesta RS Turbo project (update 19/7/09-pics!)
Well I've progressed abit more with the rs over the past couple of days. Wanted to get more done but had to get the runaround mk3 1.1 through its mot so been working on that instead!
Anyway, did a load of derusting on the underside yesterday (abourt 9 hours lol!) and decided I would replace the sills whilst I was doing everything else so cut them off today. Inner sills arn't too bad (drivers side is worse) so next up is to get the new sills on and carry on treating the rest of the underside ready to start building it all back up again
Getting there!
